Should have walked out immediately. If it was as ferociously dirty in the eating area and bathrooms, we could only imagine what the condition of the kitchen was.Women's bathroom had vomit all over the floor. Men's bathroom filthy, even though there were cones to be careful that it was slippery. you could tell the men's bathroom had just been mopped--but it was still filthy. Attempts were actively being made to mop the dining area, but would have helped if they had swept first. Ceiling tiles were unbelievably filthy and black moldy and bulging down. Probably hadn't been replaced in ten years. Ceiling vents were just as old and moldy. I suppose the health department had not been in there in ten years. I just couldn't believe how poor condition the interior of the restaurant was.The staff was slightly pleasant. But...Surprisingly the food was hot and delicious! Go figure.

We love fried chicken and think Church's is the very best of all the chains that specialize in fried chicken…better than KFC or Popeyes. The chicken is hot, crisp, and tasty. We like the coleslaw because it has a more delicate taste…not overwhelmed with mayo like some coleslaw. The coleslaw was really crisp, too. We also really liked the flavor of the fried okra…very tasty but not greasy.

The food is about average. But the service is way above average. Good place for a quick lunch. Clean tables and restrooms.

Vasser's Mini Mart

Inside this mini mart are 5 small tables with great basic Southern home cooking- as good as we had anywhere- great price-Fried chicken, turnip greens, black eyed peas.

Great home-cooked food for breakfast and lunch are delicious and a good value. You can choose from several meats and many sides--all down home Southern cooking. There are a couple of tables in the store, but most folks get it to go. If you are visiting, get your food and then go to Bloch Park or the Riverwalk area to enjoy it!!

Lannie's Bar-B-Q

Reviewed By Robert M

Have been eating bbq from Lannies for over 40yrs. Never disappointed. The service is never fast. But, the wait is worth it . I really like the outside meat. Writing about it makes my mouth water. I understand they ship. I will find soon find out, becuse I can't go long without a Lannies fix. The real name is BBQ Spot. Unless it has been changed, that's the way it's listed in the phone book.

Hancock's Barbeque

Parking lot was packed. Restaurant was packed. Waited to be seated. So excited; I just knew this was going to be special. Unfortunately, it was nothing to write home about. The meat was 'good' without the BBQ sauce, which is a good thing. The sauce is not for a tender palate - hot and vinegar-y. Very good onion rings. Funky baked beans - tasted almost 'sour'. Tasteless slaw. Sweet weak tea.

Golden Ranch BBQ & GRILL

Reviewed By jimnicadventure

We enjoyed our lunch at Golden Ranch, trying southern delights such as catfish, hush puppies, sweet tea and lemon pie. Pam our server was really friendly and attentive. She took the kids to the dessert fridge to point out all the kinds of cake and pie. The deep booths make the large open space feel private and cosy. A highly recommended stop for lunch in Selma even though its on a outskirts of town. Note if paying by credit card: they initially charge 120% as a pending charge but after 24-48 hours it reverts back to the original amount on your receipt.

Tally Ho

Home grown and home owned. A restaurant in a log cabin with good food and true southern hospitality. Definitely worth the stop. Here’s the thing with Selma. This city is dying. After a military base closed a few years ago, the city has been slowly disappearing. No chain restaurants, no malls, it’s very unfortunate. Take the time to visit this city to reflect and learn more about our history.
