Great place. Service was excellent. We visited on a Monday so it was very quiet. Steaks were great as was the Chicken Parm. Would highly recommend if you are in town.

The Coffee Shoppe

Coffee shop that has a limited menu. Veggie and cheese Panini style sandwiches. Tasty coffee hand made with steamed foam. Sells canned sodas. Clean comfortable place. Has free wifi. Good customer service with a smile. It is located right in the middle of downtown Selma, a beautiful area rich in history.
Paninis, coffee and to go sodas for three about $32 bucks.

Sweet Advantages Ice Cream Shop

Reviewed By Ariana B - Selma, Alabama

The ice cream was excellent but do NOT eat the food. Hot dog was cooked in microwave, didn't have good cheese for nachos, and the popcorn was stale. Service was great and restaurant was clean but food was terrible. Even the toppings didn't seem fresh. No parking spots and was very hot inside store. I've been a few times and my opinion is based on all visits.

Golden Ranch BBQ & GRILL

Reviewed By Cynsationl - Birmingham, Alabama

Family outing with party of 10. Family members ordered everything from soup to shrimp, and no one had complaints. The broccoli and cheese soup received the most positive feedback from the group, and my sister even inquired about the recipe! (Didn't get it though - -) I had the stuffed backed potato with pork and chicken. Delicious! Not in Selma often at all, but should I ever return will surely visit again.

Side Porch Sandwiches

Reviewed By TravellingTroubadour - United States

OVERVIEW:
After reading all the excellent reviews, we made planned to dine at "Side Porch Sandwich & Pub" during our road trip to Selma, Alabama. That said, we weren't disappointed at all. We came just minutes before they close for the day, yet, Ms Judy, our server greeted us with open arms and was very accommodating. For nearly the same price as a regular fast food burger, "SPS&P" is by far the best selection if your planning to visit Selma.

Someone mentioned about their associate(s) being treated unfairly. I'm not white nor black, and I'm not the type of person that would tolerate such behavior either. Yet, we never experienced or witness such thing during our visit, and this review is my first hand account, not hearsay whatsoever. There was an African-American lady having her meal when we came in. It seems like she was treated well because she left on a positive note. Oh! yeah, I did saw her use the facilities after she finished her meal. Furthermore, the chef is a good-natured African-American lady, and she seems to enjoy her job.

LOCATION:
Selma, Alabama

TRAVEL DATES:
March-2017

POSITIVE NOTES:
a) Best sandwich we've had in months
b) Nice rustic establishment
c) Friendly employees
d) Most accommodating server: Ms Judy
e) Budget friendly menu
f) Good view of the river

NEGATIVE NOTES:
a) One thing I can suggest is they should open late, perhaps 10:00 pm (they close at 2:30 pm). We stayed in Selma past dinner time. We would had gone back for supper if they were open.

HELPFUL TIPS:
a) Try the "Sausage & Jack" and "Sirloin Sliders" sandwiches. They're simply awesome!

Hancock's Barbeque

Reviewed By 80southerngirl - Alabama

On our way to a ballgame we stopped at Hancock's...I had never been but had heard a lot of good things about it. I wasn't feeling up to BBQ so opted for a BLT with cole slaw instead. The BLT was really, really good...the sandwich was browned in butter which made it even better. I was served a very large portion of cole slaw, so much so that I felt sure I would only eat a part of it...wrong! It was so good I ate it all. Hope to eat there again!

Mama's Kitchen and Grill

Reviewed By Kim P - Plainfield

I was in town with my sister helping her get my nephew settled in college. Because of the excellent reviews we decided to give it a try. You go to the steam table and choose your selections. You are served your selections and your drink and then sit down at a table the portions are large, the food is seasoned well and the hospitality was excellent. The restaurant is not fancy but is clean. We were a family of 4 and paid under $30 total. We took our desert to go because we were so full (peach cobbler and bread pudding) another excellent choice. I will be going back before I leave town. We were told by the nephew of the owner (Rickey) that the food is cooked by 6 sisters none of which are under 70 years old. If you want a home cooked meal this is the place to go.
