We had high hopes for the Gem. My black & blue steak was nice and tender, my wife's New York Strip was not (not terrible, but not good/great by any means). Service was slow. There was an argument going on in the kitchen. Distracting. The baked potato was small. The worse, though, the vegetable medley was from a frozen box. For a steak place? How hard is it to saute up some veggies?!?!?!?Thank you for taking the time to write this response. The behavior that you witnessed during your time with us is unacceptable and we apologize for the distraction. It is being addressed. Best, Mineral Palace Hotel & Casino

Three days into a 7 day road trip we were tired of hotel provided continental breakfasts, so we were looking for a really good, home style breakfast option before we head out for some sightseeing in the Deadwood area. A quick google search found this place just down the road. Parking was ample, we were seated immediately, and the food arrived promptly. The food was prepared close to what we requested, though my scrambled eggs were a little hard (I had requested scrambled soft). But everything tasted great and the service was top notch.

They had an amazing buffet set up for Thanksgiving. We stayed in the hotel for the holiday. So it was so nice on a cold snowy day to just go downstairs and have an awesome meal. We had a hard time deciding where to eat for Thankgiving. This was the only place we could get actual reservations. Other places only had a waiting list. Which I thought was wierd. We are so happy you chose us for your holiday meal, ColoradoMartini! Our team works hard to provide the best accommodations during those special holidays, and we truly enjoy hearing from our amazing guests like you! Please stop in again soon to visit us - we would be lucky to earn another visit in the near future. Cheers!

I saw this place in a lot of my research for restaurants in Deadwood. Much to my surprise, it was attached to my hotel. We found it by accident just by walking around our hotel lobby, The Iron Horse Inn. It’s a cute little 50’s style place. From the outside it looks like an old filling station. We came in for a late breakfast/early lunch. We split a grilled chicken wrap with lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing and to give it a different and delicious taste, parmesan cheese. It was great. The dish also came with French fries. This is a great place and I’m glad we had the chance to eat here.

We ate at Mavericks twice, the service was great as was the atmosphere. It's in a casino so don't complain about the noise. The gunslinger rolls as an appetizer are the bomb, i'm looking for a recipe for them so I can try and duplicate them. I had steaks both nights and they were great as were accouterments. My wife had a good steak one night and a pork chop the other night that was terrible and that is only reason for not giving 5 stars. Next time in town we will eat here again.Hello! Thank you for sharing this review with us. I am pleased that your meals with us were tasty; the gunslinger rolls are an absolute staple! I am sorry to hear that your wife disliked the bacon wrapped pork chops! I will pass this review along to our Chef. We also hope you will visit us again next time you are in town and appreciate your patronage. Thank you for the great review!
