The best available Resorts to stay near Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur

April 25, 2023 Enriqueta Cusson

Provence in southeastern France is divided into six departments and stretches from Orange to Nice. Many consider the Luberon in Vaucluse to be the "real Provence." Gently sloping vineyards and lavender fields are the backdrops that enthralled Cezanne, Van Gogh and Chagall. An excellent train network makes travel between cities easy. To explore villages, drive or catch a bus. Particular highlights include Palace of the Popes at Avignon, the Roman amphitheatre at Arles and the craft center of Les Baux.

Great holiday and short stay

Could not fault the service and the friendliness of staff. Thank you for making our stay so memorable. We will definitely be back. We had a great room on the fifth floor that looked over to the promenade and the sea. Even at dinner the staff were able to give us one of the front tables that overlooked the water making for a truly memorable night. Thanks to all the staff at the Hyatt Regency, great service all round.

Hôtel quite old. The room is very small, with poor view. It is also badly isolated from the noise. The breakfast is good with large choice of food. The staff was average. I asked a car for airport drop but they were not able to book. I had to do it by myself…

Pretty location, not quite 5 stars

Pros: -Conveniently located between Monaco and Nice -View from ocean view rooms is very good (we stayed in the main hotel building with a complete ocean view room and balcony). This was our favorite part of the stay and saved our experience. Had we not had a view, the rest of the details would have pushed me to want to stay elsewhere because we expected a 5 star experience. Sunrise and sunset were absolutely stunning and we enjoyed both coffee and wine on our balcony every day. Photo of our view attached. -Friendly restaurant staff -Quiet and private -Clean, but worn -Always able to get a nice taxi at a moments notice -The building facade is charming -Private beach front Cons: -The hotel grounds do not compare or come close to their 5 star competitors, such as the Four Seasons or La Réserve. We will be staying at either of those next visit. -Ocean views from the pool are obstructed by the main restaurant. La Réserve has a much better pool and poolside restaurant, and so does the Four Seasons. -Rooms, lobby, restaurant all need updating - furniture, architectural elements, bathrooms all are very outdated.. from the hardware, crown mounding, rugs, furniture, etc… it’s all worn. When you want to stay in a 5 star hotel, these details matter. -Light on staff, especially by the pool Other considerations: -The hotel is just on the edge of Cap Ferrat and is closer to Beaulieu-sur-Mer (right over the border). Not a con, just something to note. -Breakfast was good but way overpriced for the quality and available options -Royal Riviera’s website advertises very well and made us think we would get a 5 star experience, but it’s definitely 4 star.

Fantastic for families - couple of niggles!

Overall, a fantastic holiday. Pros - Countless activities for all of us aged 5-70. Great heated pools & food is some of the best buffet food we've had. Lovely setting for restaurant terrace overlooking pool and view. Loved having interconnecting rooms with kids. Plenty of staff. Zen pool was heavenly. Circus area & school is amazing for all ages (4+). Live music and cocktails in the evenings was great. Cons - rooms very small & a bit scruffy (fine for us, though), the huge corporate group that virtually took over the hotel for a few days really spoilt some mealtimes and pool time as they were an enormous group, meaning very noisy in restaurant & pool & difficult to get sun loungers & and queues for buffet food. The entryway to the main pool had foot pools to go through which really needed a clean. Impression given that more than one restaurant but really only one (with two different seating areas) so would have been nice to have some variety. Admittedly could go to Golf restaurant for lunch though (although not as suited to kids as not much choice). Shop very overpriced (bring your own pool inflatables)! Sometimes a bit of confusion about where to pick kids up from kids club as ours only wanted to go for a couple of hours a day - I think it should be made a bit of easier to dip in and out of.

We have just spent another wonderful break at this incredible hotel. With splendid views along the Promenade des Anglais and across the Mediterranean La Perouse continues to provide a wonderful experience. Our room provided all the necessary comforts and was well maintained. The patio restaurant was outstanding: breakfasts and dinners were relaxing and very enjoyable experiences. All the staff in the hotel were cheerful and helpful but I should like to emphasise how the atmosphere created by all the people working in the restaurant greatly enhanced our experience. We look forward to our next visit.

The hotel is very nice located and it’s offers beautiful views over the Promenade. The room are nice, clean and the cleaning services is very good! The breakfast is nice and the food is good! The staff from the reception (especially Mr Catalin) is great! They provide us all the necessary informations and they were very kind in answering to all of our questions! (And more!!!) The distance from the hotel to the old town is around 4-5 km … By bus (the station it’s in front of the hotel) or by taxi (around 35 euro one way) . From the airport you can take the tram and the station is behind the hotel (very convenient - 1.5 euro/person compared to 40 euro if you choose to come by taxi). The pool situated on the top is relaxing. Nice hotel with great staff and beautiful views!

This was our fourth stay at this hotel. I can say that I find no faults with this hotel. The staff are helpful and extremely professional. The rooms are very comfortable and provide all amenities - tea, coffee, hairdryer, mini bar. The breakfast which is included is excellent with a large selection and the freshest pastries. The view of the Baie des Anges is gorgeous and you can hear the waves with the windows open. The rates are very reasonable. I have stayed in more expensive hotels which don’t come near the Hotel Suisse in all round excellence.

Currently at the Hotel as we speak amd service so far has been terrible when we have had to ask if our room has been ready several times after checking in early, once arrived before 3 and having new arrivals they seemed to have had there room amd not ours even though it was 3:30 by now, being a so called four star hotel it is not what is expected to be to have to keep asking for things, what type of service is this for customers. The room is extremely dark with some awful shutters, not even any tea/coffee facilities in the room, even asking for an iron is a difficult situation, why call it a four star hotel, I’ve stayed in a hotel which is a four star and been given this service it deserves.
