On my first night Christina, the owner of the hotel and an excellent cook, prepared a divine three course meal featuring local sea bass that was one of the highlights of my trip. Don’t miss the opportunity for a meal like this, it would be a great value at twice the price! On another night when I returned exhausted from my adventures she made a soup just for me! The breakfasts were wonderful as well and feature gluten-free sweets. The Hotel Burgau is all about eco-tourism. There are biologists and geologists on staff and special nights featuring special programs on unique aspects of this particular corner of the world. I took a nature walk with Sofia, on of the hotel biologists, along the coast to Boca de Rio where the hotel picked us up. The coastline is breathtaking and it was wonderful to learn about the local plants and birds. The village of Burgau is charming with a sandy,sheltered beach. It is like the Portuguese version of Santorini. The village climbs the surrounding hills and is dotted with cute cafes overlooking the water. The hotel is perched on top of the hill. My room was simple but had everything I need. From my balcony I had a view over the rooftops and the sea. There is also a large pool for days when the ocean is too cold.

Reviewed By Sanjay0123456This is a great b&b (actually a hotel) at Vila do bispo. The overall look and feel, and the rooms are just great. The rooms are well furnished and spacious. The hostess was very welcoming. If anything, I found the breakfast slightly sparse in comparison to the otherwise great experience at his place. Strongly recommended.

Gorgeous views, houses beautifully decorated. The restaurant serves great food and everyone is super friendly. Couldn’t recommend it enough!

Surprisingly comfortable 3 star hotel
Reviewed By traveller_constantStayed here 2 nights on a walking holiday. Vila do Bispo is a small village and feels well off the tourist trail. The hotel surprised us - clean and spacious room, extremely comfortable bed and a lovely sun terrace. Very quiet (the church bells next door are loud and chime the half hours, but don’t ring at night)and there was a well-heated indoor pool. Staff were friendly. Breakfast is basic but good quality, very fresh bread and eggs available on request. No hotel restaurant tho there is a small, functional bar but there are several good restaurants/bars within 5 mins walk. Highly recommended.

Reviewed By LydiaKentWe stayed here for 6 nights and were very surprised as to how clean it was. Our room and linen was cleaned daily with fresh towels. Shared kitchen and bathroom very clean too. Swimming pool and garden was beautifully kept and peaceful.

A home away from home
Reviewed By KathleenR_28I am currently hiking the Rota Vicentina. After Sagres, Vila do Bispo was my next stop. I found this home to stay at for a night. This place is easy to find, just a kilometre or so from the Center. The property is huge and the house is spacious and clean. The gardens are beautiful and a section has a whimsical flair to it. The hospitable owner was friendly and went out of her way to make my stay comfortable, making me the best lemon-orange tea with a touch of honey with cookies when I arrived. When she learned that I was learning Portuguese, she started conversing with me. I asked her to correct my Portuguese when I made a mistake or when I asked her for help with the words. She was so helpful. She also showed me around the property - muito linda! The following morning, she offered me pao com queijo and we had breakfast together. She also had errands in town and offered me a ride. We had coffee together. What a kind person she is. Warm welcome and beautiful send off. I had a beautiful time with her. Muito obrigada!

Los calamares excelentes Llegamos tarde y aún así, nos atendieron de maravilla. Le damos un 10!! Nos dejamos aconsejar por el vino y nos encantó.
