Great stay for Golf
Reviewed By Peter_afcStayed here for a week in May for Golf. Room was excellent, shower and bath with two shower heads (rain and hand held). Room was cleaned everyday brilliantly and towels changed daily also. Location of room was good, not too close to reception so away from noise and had a ground floor which was requested pre travel via Elizabete who was really helpful. Stand out for us were all the staff at guest Services who helped with our luggage, ordering the shuttles and nothing was too much trouble. Shuttle drivers also helpful and polite. We could not get an early check in or late check out which made things a little difficult due to golf games on both those days but we were able to use the Gym to shower and change so was manageable. Breakfast buffet was excellent with an omelette station as well as cereals and helpful staff bringing tea/coffee etc. Location is not really near anything but there are on site restaurant options and we mainly ate at the Prais Golf Club House (see separate review) which was convenient and good value we thought. Although the hotel was full it never felt busy and the Pool area was always nearly empty, so this is a main golf venue so customers were out playing rather than sun bathing. We are already looking at booking again for next May, as the two main golf courses were a massive challenge but so enjoyable with so much variety. However, not for the average golfer and I would suggest anything above a 16 handicap who isn't long off the tee will struggle here.

Reviewed By Scrumps1986We have just returned from a 5 day stay at the hotel. We were a group of 4 couples and all had an enjoyable stay. The reception staff were more than helpful with any questions we had and with booking taxis, making reservations etc. The bar staff were very friendly and we had lots of laughs with Marta, Goncalo and Joanna. They even put up with our signing after a few evening drinks! Rooms we lovely, spacious and well equipped. They were cleaned each day and beds were turned down each evening. The pool areas were clean and tidy and the sun loungers were comfortable. All in all a lovely stay, thank you so much for making out holiday a good one

Reviewed By 548cherisThis hotel was well-located and quite nice in terms of comfort and cleanliness. The beds and linens were really nice, and the bathroom was well-appointed including a great tub. The breakfast was semi-customized and very good. We did not dine there for other meals, but heard the food was very good. The highlight of this hotel, though, was the staff, particularly Monica and Monica who work at the front desk, and Gita who seemed to be wherever help was needed. Monica recommended a terrific restaurant just up the street, and it was just what we were looking for. The 2 Monicas also went beyond the call of duty in locating for us a dentist, scheduled an appt, and delivered perfect directions to get there. The problem was easily fixed and we are so very appreciative. We highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Obidos.

Beautiful, quiet B&B
Reviewed By alliedmoonI loved our stay at Casa D'Obidos. It was slightly off the beaten path, and during the low season, making our stay peaceful and idyllic. The walk into down was simple, and we certainly didn't need our car. The proprietor upgraded us to a lovely cottage that felt like a slice of vintage Portugal, and was a welcome change after staying in modern Lisbon hotels. A few simple upgrades would make for a 5 star experience: newer, softer towels, a mattress pad for the somewhat lumpy mattress, and a better seal on the shower door. Beyond these simple changes, I wouldn't change a thing. Breakfast was tasty, the grounds were beautiful, and we had a lovely stay. I'd absolutely come back.

Lovely 2 bed apartment
Reviewed By Martin PStayed in the apartment for 4 nights during our golfing trip. 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms - very spacious with balcony overlooking pool which was restricted to apartments overlooking the pool. Unfortunately were not able to use the pool due to the weather. Cleanliness good with good supply of kitchens utensils should you decide to eat within the apartment. We did this one night. Used the hotel for one breakfast and 2 dinners within the clubhouse. Fair selection for all courses. Service good and staff courteous.

Reviewed By larsw971Perfect location with free parking in walking distance from the medevial town. Very service-minded and friendly staff assuring a clean and safe stay. Romm impeccably clead. Breakfast tailor-made and served at the table. Cosy garden for breakfast or a drink in the afternoon sun.

Reviewed By kindredspiritsStayed here one night in Room 126. Was 65E/night on Booking.com. Now for the good: The location! Just outside the town walls, very nice! The towels and linens were of unexpected good quality. Parking is directly in front of the hotel. WIFI was included and very good. Breakfast was meager but good. Great coffee, fresh breads and some amazing OJ. Now for the "be forewarned" part...... The bed was lumpy and pillows cheap and small. The room and bed was very small, even by European standards. All cheap and wobbly bathroom fixtures. Uncomfortably small plastic shower with no place for soap or shampoo. Very basic. All the bathroom amenities were low grade, would advise to bring your own. The room had a broken toilet seat.......but the "BEST" (sarcastically) part is that the toilet paper dispenser is one of those that only provides ONE two-ply square of toilet paper at a time. I kid you not. We reserved a "double or twin" room that was non-smoking and included breakfast and WIFI and parking. Not sure if they have any better rooms than this. The front desk was often abandoned and we had difficulty in finding a person there. We came upon several clerks and they all were to varying degrees unpleasant to interact with as well. In our room we had a large curtain and small window at the far end of the room. As we pulled the curtain back it only revealed a long boring wall. No view, just a chuckle from us. A beautiful canvas or framed photo of this over the top scenic town would have added some nice character to this room and certainly would have been less expensive than this huge curtain?!? Just a thought. The outside of the hotel gives a totally different impression than did our room itself. It was done very nicely and is quite appealing. Hope our review was helpful. If we were to return to Obidos we may stay here again, but if budget isn't a concern then we'd try to stay in the Pousada up at the top of the town.

Reviewed By Poppy2255We had the most amazing stay here! We spent 3 nights and it just wasn't long enough. The area is absolutely stunning as it's surrounded by nature and beaches that are really close by. Sofia was such a wonderful host and catered to our every need, cooking us delicious meals each evening. She showed us to secret beaches in the area and provided us with surfing lessons which such good fun! We had such a lovely relaxing holiday and we will definitely be staying here again.

Restored seventeenth century house located 30 meters from one of the main port of Vila ancient castle of Obidos. Max 7 Pax. Decorated with restored furniture from various eras. Artistic environment. Magnificent views of the wall and Varcea Lagoon. 1 double room (2 pax and cot) and 1 mixed room (5 pax), 2 bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, dining room, living room, patio and 1 place Parking. Beach 15Km, 10Km Obidos Lagoon, 80km from Lisbon and 30km approx. Peniche, Nazare and Alcobaca. Unique place to relax and enjoy the Silver Coast.
Fabulous hostel with a fabulous host

It was a pleasure talking with him, he made an excellent breakfast and it felt just like staying in a relative's home. Miguel also went out of his way to help carry a heavy suitcase (which I would make sure my husband doesn't bring again!!) across the cobblestone streets. We had a private room with a shared bath. Interestingly quirky decor and spotlessly clean. We are looking forward to our next stay in Obidos and will definitely stay at Hostel Argonata again.

Convenient, clean and helpful
Reviewed By robbotravelDespite being next to the emergency services we had a very quiet night. The residence is in easy walking distance from Obidos. The room and bathroom were spotless and comfortable. Breakfast very good. You will need your own transport to get there. Good price.
