In the 60's, here it appears and opens, that would become "The first beach hotel in the Algarve". At the seafront planted, it served as inspiration, named after the great discoverer, who five centuries ago discovered the sea route to India, thus being baptized on August 1, 1960 of "Hotel Vasco da Gama" applied in a metaphorical way, because this would be the first to be born in this region. The Hotel Vasco da Gama offers 186 rooms, which are all equipped with all modern amenities, such as swimming pools, tennis courts, children's playground, mini golf, gym, Wi-Fi internet, parking, private gardens, restaurants and bars. A wide range of services, as well as breathtaking views of the sea, where the main concern is nothing more than the comfort and well-being of those who stay there, or unforgettable moments.
A welcome break
Reviewed By cornwall1950Stayed a week, home 2 days ago. Room spotlessly clean when we arrived and cleaned each day. Bed comfortable. Breakfast excellent - plenty of choice. Tables thoroughly cleaned between diners. Fabulous view from room - get a room with sea view if possible. (Only down side is that being a bit on the short side I could not see the sea from the chair as the wall of the balcony is concrete not glass). Fridge in room not terribly efficient - kept water cool but never cold. Pool area very clean - sunbeds get reserved with towels and then people go off for hours so reserve yours early!! Beach towels available but need to pay 20 euros deposit each. We asked at reception about the sun beds on the beach as the information book in hotel lobby says clearly beach concession - book with reception - but the receptionist said that we had to talk to the 'guys on the beach' and that they were not free for hotel guests. Disappointing as also claims 'beach concession' on the hotel website. Pool bar and snack bar excellent - prices for a hotel not extortionate - on a par with prices in town for coffee and ice creams. Beer cheaper here than at bars along board walk. Great value. A big thank you to the lovely ladies at the pool bar who prepared a couple of baguettes for us to take on the plane for our journey home. So much cheaper than at airport and delicious. Perfect! Overall a great holiday.

Reviewed By hayward10Great value for money We stayed here as two couples for 4 nights The suites were great value for money Comfy beds Clean and great location Breakfast was great Drinks at the bar were made well Pool bar drinks were great Seeing a lot of guests were struggling with the evening meal orders but you can see the staff are young coming out of lock down having to wear masks at work must be a real drag Reception were brilliant on arrival and we have rebooked for next year for 6 nights to attend the soul weekender Keep up the good work

Lovely holiday
Reviewed By Norma JAt Dunamar from 17th to 28th May in apartment 325 with sea view. Close to lifts and access to pool and their easy access to the beach. Been Monte Gordo twice before , 1st time at Dunamar and couldn't fault it. Someone came in every day to make the very comfortable beds , many clean towels , the cleaners should be praised for their efficiency. We were self catering so can't comment on the food , but the 2 for 1 drinks at Happy 2 hrs 5 til 7 pm went down very well.Staff on reception very helpful , provided electric kettle and helped with phoning transfer company for confirmation of pick up times. Only thing not open was indoor pool and sauna as spa was being upgraded. Close to many restaurants and bars. Would certainly return to Dunamar for our next visit to Monte Gordo and its lovely beach. I have walking difficulties and found everything was made easy for ourselves as requested by e-mail prior to our visit.

Reviewed By fjw_85Second time I’ve visited this hotel. It was clean and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Location is excellent with the beach a 10 min walk and the square a 5 min walk. There is also a spar 2 minutes away and lots of restaurants near by. On both occasions my room was spotless and there was a safe, free of charge which i thought was really good. The pool area was small but there were ample beds available due to the time of year. Sometimes I even had it to myself. Also very clean. Breakfast was simple but nice. A variety of cereals, breads, cheeses, meats and fruit. Then a small selection of hot food. (Eggs, beans and sausages). It’s definitely my go to hotel when I’m in Monte Gordo.

Breakfast buffet is well stocked up and with plenty of choices for various requirements of clients. Swimming pool is a bonus due to extreme heat outside, water very cold and would appreciate the water being bit warmer. Vast car park is a plus, busy parking around hotel perimeter. Reviewed By mickp958I am a repeat guest. I stayed for 2 weeks on a half board basis. I was allocated a lovely comfortable room on a high floor with a beach view. The hotel is very clean and the staff are all welcoming and friendly. There is a good choice of hot and cold food. My room had comfy beds, a good size balcony and modern bathroom. I am returning in July again. Special mentions to Cristina on reception always smiling and helpful, Miguel in the restaurant along with Valter, David and Ricardo. Leandro and Miguel in the bar. Housekeeping do an excellent job. Hotel just across the road from the 13 kilometer beach. Monte Gordo is a lovely resort.

Reviewed By 894allylOne of the most friendly hotels I have ever stayed in. All staff were so nice and helpful whilst remaining professional. Nothing was too much for them. Breakfast was usual Portuguese Hotel type but with more than usual hot food choice. Only one coffee machine though. Sleep quality was excellent despite a local dog letting us all know it had woken up. Pool area is adequate but small and loungers bit dated and in need of upgrading. More suitable for those who would use the very large but fairly quiet beach (less than 5 mins away). If I was ever returning to Monte Gordo then I would be booking this hotel.

Reviewed By BridtravelStayed for 8 nights the hotel was not very clean rooms very dusty Stayed half board the food was inedible and never warm in fact most days was cold even the coffee from machine was not warm.The staff were quite abrupt at reception will not be going back there again.
