The best available hotels & places to stay near Malaga

August 7, 2022 Velvet Champine

Malaga is one of the oldest cities in the world, founded in the 8th century by the Phoenicians. Today, art is everywhere-- you can experience exhibits dedicated to glass and crystal, classic cars, contemporary installations, and, of course, the works of Picasso, who was born here. Wander past banana trees and beautiful fountains as you walk through Paseo del Parque, then hit the old city to quench your thirst at a Spanish tavern.

The Best and most friendly place to stay in Malaga

Reviewed By 867heleenl

We stayed at Icon for 5 night and have felt super welcome. It is clean, pretty, has good food and even smells great! But most of all we were impressed by how friendly the staff is. The neighborhood Soho is very cosy with street art, nice restaurants (try Mimo!) and is near both the city centre and beach. Cannot wait to come back! Ps: because Icon was fully booked when I planned our holiday we had to stay 1 extra night in another quite expensive hotel in Malaga city. This hotel costed 3x what we payed at Icon for which we had high ecpectations, but in reality it made us miss Icon and its ambiance, room and staff even more.

This hotel was amazing. The decor is stunning and the customer service was outstanding. We arrived a day late for a three night break (flight delays) and the receptionist checked us in efficiently whilst still managing to organise a surprise in the room of a chilled bottle of wine and rose petals for our anniversary. We ate and drank in the hotel - breakfast was amazing, the santa Maria restaurant was also lovely albeit I struggled to understand the menu and ordered way too much food. The slide is great fun from floor 2 to 1. The pool area is also great. The pool is not massive but you never struggle for a sun lounger or space to sit in the pool. The hotel has an entrance from the shopping centre/train station and the c1 line from the airport runs directly here. Much quicker than usual transfers by taxi or coach. We will come back!

Outstanding view, very friendly staff and magnificent hotel

Absolutely amazing!! my family and I have been there several times in the last 2 years and we have enjoyed every single one of our stays. The hotel staff are exceptional and the morning buffet is just amazing. The hotel itself is magnificent and the view you get to the sea can’t be beaten by anything . Since we are frequent guests we even got upgraded to the Seaview Suite room, it was simply outstanding. The room was giant, the balcony was huge and the view again is just too good. The weather in Malaga is always great even when we go in slightly colder periods of the year. Thank you so much!!

Amazing!!!!!!!!

Reviewed By Missjetlagged

Our 3rd stay was just flawless. The check-in was really a pleasant experience. Two lovely ladies greeted us with smiles and a solid portion of humorous laughs. Informative and speedy. Our room was a junior suite over two floors. Very nice and delicate. We had opted for the lounge-access, or in other words there is an entire floor with rooms that have access to some food and snacks all day. This was our second time doing this. Snacks are exchanged 4 times a day and includes soft drinks, wines and beer. There is a lovely terrace you can use as well. Selection is good, and worth the extra spend. I only wish they could refill the soft drinks more often as they were always out of Coke Zero. My second small complaint is that our room had biscuit crumbs in the bedroom and there was no turndown service. Only second night were we offered water before bedtime. But these are minor things. The service at the pool bar was just amazing. We met two waiters, one male and one female and they were extraordinary service minded! I wish I had gotten their names. Just amazingly helpful. Breakfast was very good. Probably the calmest most zen-like breakfast room I have encountered. All in all just a wonderful stay! My husband and I are still in lack of words to properly describe our stay. We are already planning our return!

The hotel has a perfect location in the town centre and we found our room to be spotlessly clean. The hotel has a great roof terrace bar with great views of the city and the bar staff were all very welcoming. The reception staff were also very friendly, especially Oscar with whom we had most dealings with. We would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a central location.

This is the forth time we stay at this hotel. The placement is superbe, everything is just around the corner. Shopping a few meters from the hotel door, and restaurants within seconds of walking. If you would like a swim and a brake on the beach you just need to walk for approximately 15 minutes, and on your way you can get refreshments and enjoy the beautiful harbor area with restaurants and fine modern designed elements. When you stay in the room it is very quiet, the rooms we have had has window against the center of the hotel so even with the window open there is not much to hear. We have had quadruple/family rooms, they are function-able and we all have a good stay and good sleep. The service is very good, the staff is smiling and helpful and breakfast ir really good. We would love to come back and I can promise we will!

Friendly central hotel

A good little hotel. Very centrally based for the city centre. Opposite the market and plenty of shops nearby. Room was small but clean and fine for me although I was a solo traveler. Might have been a squash for 2 of us. If you have mobility problems it is worth knowing there are 2 lifts but some rooms (110-140) require you to use some stairs . Lovely walk in shower with modern amenities. Air conditioning was much appreciated. Staff were welcoming and helpful.

The ONLY Hotel you need to stay in Malaga

Reviewed By Damary K

My friend and I stayed at this hotel for her birthday in March. We were two black girls travelling alone in Malaga so we were a bit anxious. At first we struggled to find a hotel that fit both of our requirements and aesthetics. We wanted somewhere chic and modern but also convenient and accessible to the places we wanted to go. Luckily, I found this gem on booking.com, and I fell in love with its interior and overall vibe. The decor is exquisite and very modern, it makes you feel very luxurious but at the same time comfortable. The location is absolutely perfect if you want somewhere to stay that’s close to the town centre but also not too far from the airport, beach etc. You can walk to most places as it’s right by the beach but also at the town centre. The moment we walked in the hotel, the staff took extra care of us, they were super friendly, taking our luggage and helping us check in. We wanted to upgrade our room so we were lucky enough to be introduced to Fran who showed us all the different rooms and took the time to explain all the features in the room. We want to take this time to say a special thank you to Fran who made our whole trip fantastic. I am someone who loves convenience, especially on holiday, and his recommendations and service was superb that I cannot wait to go back. He took the time to recommend and book us a traditional flamenco show, he recommended the best spa we’ve ever been to (hammam anadalus) and the best restaurant spots in Malaga etc. Honestly, without Fran, our trip wouldn’t have been as special as it was. He really took care of us and became our own guide around Malaga. Moreover, we would also like to thank the entire staff at Only You Hotel from reception, bars, to the restaurant, they know how to treat their guests with care and love. The only feedback we would say is that we were charged extra for room service e.g. ordering wine etc, so we ended up having to go upstairs all the time to save on the cost which was tedious. I wouldn’t bother staying at any other hotel aside from this one, so thank you to all the staff, particularly Fran, for making Malaga such a positive experience for us. Salud!

Awful Customer Service, No working Ethic

Reviewed By Mermaid_2905

I did not eventually stay at this hotel as had the worst experience ever even before staying in terms of customer service and integrity. There is no working ethic here. I have booked three months ago a room for € 1966 (discounted to 50%ish) which I thought was going to have at least a sea view. It turned out that, when I double checked with them, the room was a standard and that if I wanted a sea view room I would need to pay additional €15 per night As I challenged them asking why a 5 Star hotel for the same dates were instead offering a superior with sea view they stopped answering my emails. Also 30 days prior to my stay they charged me the FULL amount for the stay. I eventually, only after calling them, had confirmation the refund was processed and still awaiting for the funds to be returned to my account. They clearly could not face reality as that must have been too embarrassing the least and would rather refund than take full responsibility allocating to me a sea view room minimum. Stay away from this business, not worth it, I wasted my time and energy and did not even get an apology but only a lot of attitude and neglect. Pretty disgusting. Please see attached proof.
