Okay For The Money
Reviewed By Skillet50It is hard to rate hotels without taking into account the price. Considering the price, the hotel is okay, you get what you pay for. However, I normally stay at Hilton properties. Hampton Inn is the closest price point and there is no comparison, Hampton Inn wins by a large margin. The hotel was in a small town with few choices and Best Western was probably the best in town. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, water hot and staff was friendly. Television was horrible, picture was so dark you couldn’t make out the images on the screen. The toilet was lose at the base and moved when sitting on it. Breakfast was okay but very limited selections. My review is somewhat negatively bias because the town of Hallettsvile is horrible, stay somewhere else. No place to eat and nothing to do. My fault, I should have done more research.

Reviewed By EndurodadStayed here for the Shiner Half Marathon. Saw many other runners the morning of the race at the hotel. Owner is seemingly always working the front desk or serving breakfast. The breakfast is better quality than the chain hotels too. Very clean and pretty quiet at night. There’s a large covered outdoor patio at the back of the hotel with rockers and picnic tables that is quiet and relaxing. We will definitely be staying here if we run Shiner again.

Does what it's supposed to do...it's a bed and hot water
Reviewed By Kasey DGiant sign outside: "Free Wi-Fi". Didn't work. Called the desk, "it's not working right now." Which isn't a deal breaker for me. BUT there is absolutely no reception inside the rooms. Again, isn't a huge deal...Normally. But I did need to communicate with work...had to drive down the road to get reception. The lobby had cobwebs all over the light fixtures. The bedspreads had holes in them. The sheets did seem clean. The beds were lumpy. The carpet felt tacky and almost damp...kept our shoes on the whole time. My husband and I laughed, we've stayed in worse, and it does what it's supposed to do, it's a bed and the air conditioner worked ha! My first choice was booked up, and we HAD to stay in town for our travel arrangements to work out the next day. If you have to stay, you'll live, but I suggest looking at the area's top rated lodging instead.
