The best available hotels & places to stay near Cascais

August 8, 2022 Roseanne Arnett

A coastal town just 20 miles west of Lisbon, Cascais was once a small fishing village, but its idyllic scenery attracted the attention of artists, writers and expelled European nobility in the 20th century. Today, it still attracts high society, but all society comes in force to enjoy the gorgeous beaches and adventure options like sailing and surfing. The Conde de Castro Guimarães Museum, a former palace, is now open to the public and displays an impressive collection of art and artifacts.

I stayed for 2 nights for a conference at this hotel and it really has a 5 star experience and the view of the calm ocean is magnificent. The view from the elevators while moving is beautiful. The staff at the reception and the hotel door are very polite. The room was very spacious, clean and fresh. Food was of very good quality. Tea & coffee is complimentary but finding the kettle from under the cupboard and plugging it under the table is a little inconvenient.

Best hotel in this beautiful area of Porto

Reviewed By Sylvia P

It’s easy to see why IHC Cascais-Estoril has earned its five star rating. I’d give it more than that if it were possible. The hotel is stunning and the service is everything you would expect and then some… We came for a much needed rest after leaving Porto where my husband had suffered from Covid and a severe case of bronchitis. He tested negative but was still very weak from the bronchitis so It was the perfect place to relax and heal. Joel Saldanha and his staff could not have made the experience more pleasant. As you can see, our room was fantastic: the view of the ocean and its fresh air was just like being home— unfortunately we don’t get the same service there? If you’re coming to the area and you want the perfect place to stay, stop reading this review and book immediately!

Don’t arrive hungry after 10pm !

Reviewed By IrelandLovetotravel

We found a lot to like in this hotel - exceptionally clean everywhere, lovely relaxing pool area , good breakfast - ask for boiled eggs , omelette etc and no problem- all staff are very nice and helpful. We had a room with sea view and balcony which was lovely with very comfortable beds and great shower. The only disadvantage and reason we would not return is that everything closes at 10pm including room service. So as we arrived at 10.30 we got a taxi to Cascais as we were hungry. The hotel is 20 mins walk from Cascais - ( good bus and taxi service) There are restaurants in Casa de Guia which is 5 mins walk and really nice. However as they also close quite early the only option for late arrival dining is a taxi to Cascais.

Mixed experience

Reviewed By Margaret052

Don't book here if you are not a golfer. It's full of them, mainly in single-sex groups. They can be very greedy at breakfast, and quite pushy. On the plus side, they don't take up loungers by the pool all day! As 60/70's couple, we could list an awful lot of negative experiences (had so many now, we know what is important for us a clients), but that would be tedious. Paulo on the Reception was a gentleman, and extremely helpful. I can't say the same for the other reception staff, especially the little guy with glasses, who was quite rude when we arrived, after a sleepless night due to a very early start. Not his problem, of course, but he was adamant that we weren't getting in a room until 3pm, as per their T's and C's. He COULD have said that they would see how quickly a suitable room became available that morning. As we sat in reception and watched other arrivals getting the same treatment, we realised that he was probably numb with the situation and people's reaction. Needs a bit more interpersonal training. We arrived early due to plane changes (as per many people in May 22), so couldn't get in our junior suite room until 3pm. When we could, a couple of hours later, thanks to Paulo, we didn't like it, the bed was too small for us and the safe had been taken out. Paulo showed us a standard room, sea-side, with twin beds, so we changed to that, and received a refund against the room bill, which we used for drinks etc. The location is excellent, close to town and the Marina, where there are several restaurants. We liked Valerio best. There is no need to panic about pool loungers, because there are hardly any people there until after 4pm, when the golfers return. The golfer clientele surprised me. We had specifically NOT booked a hotel on a golf course, for exactly this reason. However, there ARE quite a lot of golf courses nearby, and it's relatively good value. The evening restaurant buffet is not that good, and if was really hard to get a drink. Everything menu-wise is on a QR code notice, but successfully downloading it is another matter. We wouldn't stay here again.
