Domaine de Bassilour

Located just outside of the village of Bidart, 3 kilometers from the beach and Biarritz, lies a lovely accommodation surrounded by greenery. Guests may choose from several options, either in the elegant mansion built during the Second Empire, where rooms are spacious and comfortable, or in the 16th Century farmhouse, painstakingly restored and equipped with all the latest modern comforts. The tasteful decor of open beams, stone walls and wood is highlighted by the fireplace in the superb salon.

Very charming hotel!

We went to the Biarritz with friends in the beginning of August, looking for a nice place a bit outside of the city, to relax from the stressful work life. The Bassilour domain fully met our expectations! We stayed in the big house that has a lot of charm. It is very calm and there is even a tennis court in the garden; we were even lent tennis rackets! The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Also the hotel is still quite close to the city so you can still go surfing or visit Biarritz/Bidart very easily! Highly recommend.

Camping Erreka

Enjoyed our stay but was mostly shut even though advertised as being open all year

Reviewed By Phillip C

We enjoyed our stay here camping in our tent as it was a great base from which to see the local area. The cost per night was quite expensive with only a nominal reduction for being offseason. What the don't tell you on their web site is that only the basic facilities are open after late September. The swimming pool had shut as had the bar and restaurant! The toilets and showers were plentiful and clean. The tent pitches are limited to 12 places. They all had shade but were quite small so just about fitted our 4 man tent on the pitch area. Half the pitches are on a slight slope so avoid those if you can otherwise you will slide to one side of your tent in the night the other half are accessed by steep steps to the top of a slope. They can all get quite muddy if it rains. There was WIFI but this only worked near to reception and it had to be paid for. Not really great value for your money and not the most honest information on the web site. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

Clean, right next to the surfing beach.

Pleasant, clean room with sea view. No nonsense, comfortable hotel with good breakfast, served in the restaurant or on the terrace outside, overlooking the sea. Have always been able to park easily at the hotel (free parking). Great hotel if you want to take advantage of the surfing beach which is literally on your doorstep. If you want to walk into the centre of Bidart town, it's a 20-30 minute walk up the hill. Alternatively you can turn right out of the hotel and walk into Guethary which is a lovely village with bars and handful of restaurants. Worth going to the watch the surfers tackle 'the avalanche' at Guethary. Great hotel location if you have a car and travel to Biarritz, St Jean de Luz or over the border to San Sebastien in Spain - all worth a visit.

Villa L'Arche was an amazing experience ! Don't miss it if you wish to visit Bidart and Pays Basque. The hotel has 9 rooms and 3 apartments. Our bedroom was a beautiful Junior Suite. A very large bedroom with ocean view, terrace and all the comfort especially the bed and mattress which provided us an excellent sleep. The breakfasts were excellent too ! Fresh squeezed orange juice, eggs, ham, cheese, yogurt, croissants, bread... Every morning was a delight. The location is great too between St Jean de Luz and Biarritz. And a 10 mn walk from Bidart lovely center. The hotel is also very relaxing and quiet as there are only 9 bedrooms. And therefore it's a very personalized service. The staff is very helpful, welcoming and friendly. The owner Florian is adorable and Marie is fantastic and always smiling. She's the one preparing and serving breakfast. Don't miss a wonderful experience at Villa L'Arche ! Many thanks to all the staff ! Assia from Paris

Very pleasant stay

Reviewed By alandwood

Located near the main road through the village, there is sometimes a bit of traffic noise, but not too much. The residence is beautifully presented with lawns and flower borders, including a large grassed area ideal for games. The pool is only 8m long, but ideal for a cool off. There are good quality loungers and sun shades. We had a T2, a one bedroom, one lounge, ground floor with terrace overlooking the garden which was very good. There are some at the rear of the building that we did not see. Our appartment was ok, the bed was very good and a north facing room (so cooler). The owners did provide a fan for warmer days. The lounge was useful to store kit, but wasn't too comfy, but we sat on the terrace for the most part. The shower was really good. The kitchenette had two top rings and a microwave, with very basic cutlery etc. This is the only reason we did not give a 5, as the cutlery and cutlery accessories were very cheap and basic. Sophie and Francois were excellent hosts, always ready to help in any situation. They always had a smile and they made our stay very pleasant. We were there at the end of June/start of July. There were many nationalities, French, Spanish, German, Swedish, Belgium etc. The town and beach were only 400m away, but over a hill and (for the beach) down some steep steps, so walking everywhere was a possibility although there was free parking by the beaches.. There were the usual restaurants in the village, but also some "down the hill" at the bottom of the village. Again a short walk. Overall Bidart was great, so was Gochoki. Recommended

Good location but expensive

Reviewed By Chrysteria64

We stayed one night in Bidart and chose this hotel due to its central location. At 90euros a night, I expected a bit more. The car park was impossible to find. And when we saw it, we decided it was better to leave the car elsewhere anyway as it was extremely narrow. The room was spacious but with minimal amenities. Wifi did not work properly, we couldn't get the signal in our room. No kettle, nor water, no phone. Cheapest soap, no shampoo. The welcome was however friendly.
