Reviewed By forsaken0606One of the best hotels in Chaung Thar. The interior is made of contemporary teak furniture. There is no discrimination (different) price between foreigners and locals. Everybody pays the same cost. Breakfast is abundant. Lovely. The minor downside is that they don't put the drink menu inside the rooms. If you want to order, you have to go to the restaurant bar / counter. Other than that, nothing else to complain. Would always choose Akariz Hotel over others whenever I go to Chaung Thar.

The bungalow style hotel offers you privacy and splendid seaview. Ten rooms have full seaview, another 14 rooms have partial seaview. The hotel is right on the beach. There are parasols and beds for free. The hotel offers 24 hours reception, restaurant and bar, swimmingpool with separate childrens pool, laundryservice, pooltable, motorbike rental, excursion options (boattrip to the islands, elephant camp), pick-up service from and to busstop. Free breakfast included in the roomprice. The two storey building overlooking the garden and swimmingpool offers 20 more rooms. The hotel has 2 family rooms with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a central sittingroom.
Beach bungalow bliss
Reviewed By stoko42On arriving in Ngwe Saung at 4am we were picked up from the bus by the very friendly and helpful Aung Swe and taken to this beautiful resort. Our room was available even though check in was not until the afternoon. @The Sea is a beautiful simple beach resort, there are a flowers everywhere, thatched open gazebos for dining and of course well appointed spacious bungalows facing the sea. We chose a seafront bungalow so we could enjoy the sights and sounds of the sea and the cooling sea breeze. The beach is quiet at this end of Ngwe and clean, thanks to the General Manager who personally went out every morning and cleaned the beach of the debris washed in from the sea overnight. The restaurant is situated next to the pool which contrary to another reviewers comment (who stayed at the same time, maybe their sunglasses were dirty) is crystal clear and the perfect size for a gentle swim. The restaurant is comfortable and relaxing and has a menu with plenty of choices. The food was well prepared of a good portion size and delicious. We had a few minor niggles about the service at the restaurant but after chatting to the lovely Food and Beverage manager Min Min everything improved. Min Min was attentive and ensured everything was perfect at every meal for the rest of our stay. The staff were all kind, friendly and helpful. They always greeted us with a cheery Minglabar whenever they saw us. Special thanks must go to Aung Swe the Receptionist/Interpreter and general go to man for everything. He checked in on us everyday and made us feel very special throughout our stay. @The Sea is a jewel of a resort in Ngwe Saung's ever increasing choices. I highly recommend staying @ The Sea in Ngwe Saung.

(excellent combination) My favorite point of JL Lodge is its scenery which you can enjoy both orchid garden and myanmar traditional thanakhar . I would like to say again thanks a millions for my Second Prize Winner Trip and gracious service at the JL Lodge Hotel & Resort . I never thought I would very pleasant and happy trip like this. It's memorable experiences for my life ? The atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to me. All respect for the Manager Ko Pyae Phyo Naing & reception staffs who does a great job here; a true sample of excellent hospitality! Strongly recommend, you won’t believe their room price and their amazing service!

Reviewed By A255QMbriandWe had a pleasant and wonderful stay at Eskala during the Thingyan Holidays. We stayed in one of the sea view villa with a fantastic view of the ocean. The resort has a wide and clean beach front which is not crowded. And the life guards will always approach on site whenever we are in the water. That's a plus for safety especially I'm with 2 kids. Food is superb and service at the dining hall is fast and efficient. My only comment is there are limited options in their food ala cart menu. But the daily buffet breakfast is awesome. The resort grounds and facilities are well maintained and the pool is picture perfect. The noise from people eating and drinking in the beside room balcony during night time can be heard in our room which is a bit annoying especially if you would like to have a nice relaxing sleep. And I hope hotel management can do their regular rounds and call attention of noisy guests. Long drive from Yangon is worth it. We will definitely come back.

Excellent desination for large and small parties
Reviewed By kyisin_aungNSYC and Resort is one of the few destinations in Myanmar which could facilitate large events including conferences, annual staff parties, team building events, galas, weddings, etc for 300-500 guests. Huge hotel compound and long beach front are able to accommodate all types of activities from water sports to beach parties. Hotel staff are friendly and they will greet you with innocent smiles saying "Mingalabar" every time they meet you. They are also very competent, experienced and professional in serving large groups of guests in all aspects, including catering, housekeeping, event set up, and so on. Newly opened "Surf Point Bar & Restaurant", located within the hotel compound, is also a must-go-place to chill and enjoy your evenings while you are in Ngwe Saung. NSYC is only 5-hours away from Yangon and it is a great place to escape the super busy and crowded commercial capital. Highly recommended.

Reviewed By sadhbhoconnorThe hostel was perfect for a few nights in Ngwe Saung. 10 minutes walk to beach. Rooms were clean but bed linen and towels were old and had stains. The food in the restaurant was okay and it is nice to sit there but the length of time it took for cocktails and one of our groups meal to come was nearly an hour! Staff were helpfulat times, at other times it felt like they thought they were doing us a favor by cooking dinner and cocktails for us, even though we were paying. Overall you get what you pay for and I would recommend dreamhouse for those on a budget.

The hotel is well laid out with beautiful gardens for walking, there is obviously a plan to live up to the name ‘Hill Top Garden’. The staff were really helpful, and the restaurant served tasty food, mostly local but there were a couple of western dishes (fish & chips) which were very nice. There’s not much restaurant competition, except on the beach where we ate every lunch, having fish dishes. The rooms were small basic, but we spent our time on the veranda, so it was quite pleasant. The power is off all day (6pm-6am) which is a bit frustrating, but we were expecting this. While they say pet-friendly, several street dogs making this a bit challenging, but better than most ‘ pet-friendly’ hotels here. Definitely recommend this place, if you want to support community tourism.
