Reviewed By tvamraak1Nicely situated and nice interior. Lots of places to sit and relax in the common rooms. Average breakfast. Standard rooms maybe a bit small. Personally, I’m no fan of glass-walled bathrooms with glassdoors. Service and staff average. Drinks in bar «Arkivet» are expensive.

Reviewed By Discover793050Location and breakfast were great. We’ve chosen room with a great view and extra money was worth it. But bathroom was a big let down. Slope of the bathroom was very poor hence even if you take shower for few seconds your bathroom will be flooded.

Reviewed By ithaca96This is a bit of nostalgia for me, since I grew up in this very special city. The old Art Nouveau hotell had a different name, and now it has a different style as well. The interiors are very stylish and lovely, with an attractive backyard. We did not stay in the hotel, but came for lunch. Which was frankly a disappointment. The menu was not easy to understand, so we hazarded a bit. Green curry with pork turned out to be a bowl of pale soup with som miniscule bits of unidentifiable "meat" in it. The chevre salad, a French classic that can usually not go wrong, was a heap of browned endive leaves with a teaspoon of chevre underneath and three burnt walnut halves. And it was really expensive! We wondered who this fare was meant for. Pity, as the hotel itself is very attractive

The kindest breakfast-staff
Reviewed By AmandaB6798It’s my third work-trip to Ålesund, and I keep coming back to the same hotel (despite being recommended several other good hotels in the area). The rooms are lovely (if you’re lucky you get a room with the spectatucal view of the ocean), beds are comfortable, but my main reason for returning is the lovely staff who works here - specifically the breakfast staff. To mention one name, I’d have to draw out Johanna - who welcomes everybody in the most welcoming and heartening way. Having returned a couple of times now, Johanna recognizes me and it’s like being welcomed by an old friend. Eating a fantastic breakfast with the incredible view - makes my morning, and always make me look forward to returning to Ålesund☺️

Reviewed By Per MThe best Choice in Ålesund. Nice belonging and very nice staff. The price is moderate. A short walk to everything. It is the closest you Can Get to the sea. If you want you can start the day in the gym. A big parkinglot just outside the hotel. Nice rooms.

Reviewed By 112RobertCFine hotel. Restaurant service absolutely dire. Food OK at best. Problem is you pay a princely sum, for service more like a motorway cafeteria. If you do want to eat here, then order your courses individually on the app, otherwise they will deliver everything at the same time. This includes drinks - do them separately. Do not pay tip at point of order.

There’s a ferry just opposite if you want to explore other islands which also gives exceptional photo opportunities!

Reviewed By Schmitty86My husband and I stayed here one night on our 12 day trip. We were looking for a hotel close to the airport because we came in late by car and had to leave early on a flight. We came in at 8 pm and had to drop off a rental car at the airport. After we checked in, my husband dropped off the car and took a taxi back to the hotel. It was a 10 minute ride. We also took a taxi to the airport in the morning which the hotel arranged for us. The bus stop to the airport was literally right outside of the hotel but the times of our arrival and departure was outside of the bus timetables. The hotel is above a supermarket. On the ground floor was a supermarket and a small restaurant which was also where we checked in. We took an elevator upstairs which opened into a large center lobby with sofas and a morning coffee station. All hotel room doors open to the lobby. Rooms were basic and clean. Staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was decent. Not as good as other hotels in Norway but decent for the cost. There’s not much else in the general area. We ate dinner in town before we got there. WiFi was strong and better then other hotels. We were given passwords to use it. Like I said, this hotel meet our needs for that night.

Convenient when going by car
Reviewed By Olav SA smart way to use a boarding school in the summer. The rooms were convenient for a few nights. The beds were comfortable and everything very clean. Good breakfast and really nice and friendly staff. We stayed two nights in this nice area.
