Vassel gard

In the village of Herand, in the municipality of Jondal, you’ll find Vassel Gard a dream destination that is well worth visiting. This farm is the perfect starting point for walks in the woods or the mountains. You can also try your luck fishing in the Hardanger Fjord. Discover the beauty of Hardanger, starting your excursions from Vassel Gard, a trip from ancient days, through to the present. On the farm, we raise wild sheep in cooperation with Mobilslakt AS, who specialise in dispatching animals in a more humane way directly on the farm, so we can produce meat products locally. Vassel gard is located close to Folgefonna summer ski centre.

Pretty with simple accomodation

Reviewed By travelbugcaz

My friends and I recently got back from a 4 night stay at vassel Gard & on arrival we met the owner who was very welcoming. Each chalet had 4 adults (2 bunks), a communal living space and a shared bathroom. (The shared bathroom is a separate wash block & not within the chalet itself which i didn't mind). First impressions: the self catering chalets had recently been renovated and were nicely done but were not properly equipped for self catering. There was a distinct lack of equipment such as knives, pots, pans etc. In the end we had to knock on the door of the owners and ask for a knife as we couldn't find anything to cook with. There was a lot of inconsistency with regards to who had what cooking facilities in their chalets - some people had pans and no toaster. Other had a toaster but no pans. We were lucky that we had 2 cabins so we could swap & share bits and pieces. In the communal cooking areas there was also dirty washing up which had been left by previous people. For the wash block, there was a distinct lack of toilet paper & we constantly had to scrabble around looking for some throughout our 4 night stay. The shower was very good but there is only 1 female & 1 male shower in the whole of the site. There are no stools/ chairs to put any of your belongings whilst you shower so there was a theme of stuff always getting wet as drainage was a bit of an issue. On the positive, the shower was very powerful and hot which was great after a long day. There is also only 1 sink that has running water to clean teeth etc. In terms of the living space, the bunk beds were very comfy (but quite small), & the bedding was clean & soft. It was clean but the cabin itself was far too small for 4 adults. The location was fantastic and the setting was as pretty as a picture. It is a working farm with sheep & goats and waterfalls in the distance, so for scenery you couldn't beat it! Waking up to those views was really awesome :) Vassel Gard has the potential to be really quite amazing but they let themselves down with the lack of attention to detail..... restock the toilet paper (every day) and make sure each cabin has the right cooking facilities to begin with. On the whole we had a great time but i probably wouldn't stay there again.

Disappointing Attitude

Reviewed By Amir55

Book the place through Booking. By mistake, canceled the reservation. 2 minutes later, sent a request to cancel the cancellation. Both Booking and Skysstasjonen turned a cold shoulder to us. So I guess they're going to have a big party with our 576 NK while we were left with a bitter taste. Way to go Skysstasjonen!

Vert Nice

We stayed here for two nights and absolutely loved it. The cabins are cozy, it’s right by the ocean and the Atlantic road. We had super nice weather, but it would be kinda exciting to stay here when it’s a bit rough out too. Really do recommend this place. The staff is super nice, it’s clean and a lot of stuff to do around here.

We had such a lovely time staying here. It was exactly what we were hoping for - quiet and relaxing with gorgeous scenery. Janneke was incredibly welcoming and even gave us a couple of eggs from her chickens. After hiking all day, fossane was exactly what we needed. Could not have asked for a better time.

Amblegaard

You can choose between 7 different and traditional houses/ cottages on our farm. All houses lay freely in the nature, without near neighbours. There is beautiful view from all of them to the Sognefjord, glacier and mountains. The houses are all restored during the last years. They are comfortably furnished with a mix of Norwegian farm antiques and new furniture. The houses have beds for 4 – 12 persons. As our guests you are free to use the “glories” of the farm: There are boats laying by our quay in the Sognefjord. On the estate there are lakes, where you can catch trout. As our guest you do not have to pay fishing licence. By one of the lakes is our old mountain farm, which is at your disposal. 40 kilometres of private forestry roads bring you up to 600 metres height over the Sognefjord, with beautiful view and huge hiking areas. We usually rent out the houses for at least one week, but shorter stays are possible on request. The prices depend on which part of the year you want to stay here, and which house you choose.

Very nice houses: magnificent view over the fjord and great hikes in the woods.

Excellent and professional divecenter

Reviewed By VeroniquePt

1. Getting there and going back home: We arrived by plane from Bergen and took the ferry to gulen. All the information is very well explained on the website and Orjan and Monica provides us with information about the bus from the ferry to the divecenter. When we went back to Bergen on a sunday, Monica and Orjan were worried about the bus and ferry going. They got the information by themselves and Monica drove us to the ferry herself without expecting we pay for it. We thought this was very nice of her! 2. Facilities: Simple, clean rooms and badrooms. Towels and sheets provided. Clean kitchen with fridge, oven, microwave, dishwasher, etc. We brought our own food since we had read on the website that there was no restaurant or anything. A small store is 10 drive with the car. Free wifi, not always working so good, especially when u log in with too many at once. Hottub available, book in advance as they need time to prepare it. Cosy bar where u can drink a beer. 3. Staff: Everybody is very friendly. Isabelle helped us get all the gear we needed and Guido helped us with anything else with diving. He gave professional breefings about the divesites, the history of the wrecks and how to dive the wrecks/sites. He was there to help with the gear when needed but also gives us the space we needed. He was very friendly at all times. 4. Dives: We did mostly wreckdives and the dives were all amazing! We all are experienced divers so we didn’t needed a guide. We went with the boat were we could sit dry between the dives. Water and snacks are available to buy, but there is also a small kitchen. We took some noodles to heat up between the dives. The housereef is also very nice to see, especially for macro. 5. Dive equipment: We brought the most of ourselves, but the equipment we’ve rented was vert well maintaned. There is enough room to store everything and a heated room for the suits. Big bath to rinse everything and other bath to rinse cameras. 6. Extra: After the diving there were freshly baked waffles, coffee and tea. Very jummy. Final opinion: keep up the good work guys! Hope to come again some day!

Mooi huis, mooi zicht

Reviewed By Saske78
