The best available Hostels hotel to stay near Salamanca

April 26, 2023 Elouise Mccaul

Known as Spain’s "golden city," Salamanca is rich in architectural, religious and gastronomic culture. Marvel at the La Casa de las Conchas (house of shells) and the 18th century Plaza Mayor, then pore over the fresh produce of the Central Market. Both the Old and New Cathedrals of Salamanca are celebrations of Renaissance and Gothic styles.

Arrived late and had a warm welcome by the receptionist. She was very helpful with information regarding the city. Nice bar and the beds were comfortable. Lacked plugs for every bed as it looked like hotel rooms converted into hostel dorms. Showers were warm and had a good location for the tourist attractions, bars and places to eat. Would stay again if I was in Salamanca.

Good value for money

Stayed here mainly because of the comments on TripAdvisor. Guy on front desk gave us a great reception, told us where to park, have breakfast, the quickest way into the centre and circled everything on a map. Rooms clean, beds comfortable, hot water in the rainfall shower, good selection of TV channels and very quiet.

Horrible place

Reviewed By F4097BR

It is located in the centre of Salamanca but up 4 flights of stairs with no lift. Rooms are pokey and very basic, doublebed tiny, No soundproofing so we were treated to the fun of a happy pair next door. They charge 10Es a night for pets, and there is no free parking. Inclusive of those charges it is over 50€s for one night. One of the worst places I have stayed.

Cheap (yes) & cheerful (kind of)

Reviewed By Cat8250

The plus side - centrally located, cheap, pleasant helpful receptionist (when he's there - saw him three times in 15 days!). The down side - The rooms are really small - the local feline population swagger about with no fear of being swung - & your room will not be serviced unless you're out before 1100. The shower is misnamed - it should be called a dribble. It takes a good five minutes (literally, and I mean that) for the said dribble to become luke warm (if you're lucky!) and that's as hot as it gets. There is little or no ventilation in the tiny bathroom, which, when you're sharing a room, leads to certain interesting olefactory experiences! The towels are threadbare and particularly abrasive whilst some have rather disturbing deep stains. This last point is indicative of the general ambiance of the hostal, as reasonable towelling is not exactly pricey. The same might well be said for the bed linen and the beds appear to have seen better days. Even though the main criteria for booking this hostal is the price and the location, and one should not harbour unrealistic expectations, it seems every expense has been spared to make your experience as basic as possible!

My heart sank

Reviewed By Gail K

I booked this accommodation on line and when we pulled up outside my heart sank - it looked like the most grotty dive in the world BUT once inside what a difference. The Manager was charming and very efficient. The room, though basic, was spotlessly clean and the best of all was that we could have George, our Jack Russell, with us in the room. Parking was nearby and the places of interested only a short walk away. A truly pleasant surprise!

Brilliant stay

Reviewed By Kayleigh G

Five of us came to Salamanca for a weekend trip and booked to stay here for one night. The receptionist was welcome and helpful, telling us the best places to go and eat and allowing us to store our bags both before and after checking in. The room was a brilliant size, clean and welcoming. The hostel itself is in a great location. Couldn't be better in my opinion, absolutely fantastic for the price.

Wonderful hostel

Reviewed By X5370WMfrancescob

I was travelling with about 20 people and we booked this hostel for 3 nights. The hostel is really cozy and the rooms are pretty much comfortable. The guys at the reception were always kind to us. It seems that the hostel is pretty far from the city center but it took only 20 minutes by walking to get to "Plaza Mayor". Plus taxy in Salamanca are not expensive at all. A 5 peple taxy from the hostel to the center is about 9 euros in total. Otherwise there is always the bus eventhought it's not on service during the night. I higly reccomend this hostel.

Small !!! room

Reviewed By Jens_009

We stayed in the guest house of the hostel across the street. We were two adults and two kids and the room was already full by the two bunk beds. There was hardly and more room for our backpacks. The room was clean though. There was hardly any parking available and only by good chance we found a place close to the hostel. The only BUT major advantage of the hostel is that it is extremely close to all sights in the inner city. We extremely benefited from this. Pricewise this hostel might be cheap for Salamanca conditions but in general it is expensive for what it offers.
