The best available Hostels hotel to stay near Malaga

April 26, 2023 Chanda Heide

Malaga is one of the oldest cities in the world, founded in the 8th century by the Phoenicians. Today, art is everywhere-- you can experience exhibits dedicated to glass and crystal, classic cars, contemporary installations, and, of course, the works of Picasso, who was born here. Wander past banana trees and beautiful fountains as you walk through Paseo del Parque, then hit the old city to quench your thirst at a Spanish tavern.

Beautiful hostel but needs better insulation

Reviewed By Tracy L

I booked a double directly through their website. This place is very beautiful. Not what I was expecting so I was pleasantly surprised. I only needed a room for 1 night since I was flying out of the Malaga Airport early in the morning. I stayed in room 106. If you book a room facing the main walkway/ street be mindful there is a club right outside the hostel and the party don't stop til the late in the morning. I left for my early morning flight at 5am and they were still open, music playing with people outside enjoying themselves. While the bed was comfortable, it was impossible to sleep. I did inform the nice gentleman at the front desk about the noise and he sympathize but honestly they can't do anything about it except warn guest, offer ear plugs and work on getting better insulation specifically for that side of the building. And for this reason only, I probably won't rebook here again.

Small breakfast, service bit unfriendly.

No locals at all here, just full of tourists. Breakfast was small. Roof terrace was nice if you don’t mind carrying your own food up four flights. Service wasn’t the friendliest. I’d probably not bother coming again.

Hotel Palacete de Alamos

Small, modern, friendly hotel in the heart of Malaga

Reviewed By CATPAC

Great little hotel, fantastic location right in the heart of Malaga old town. Our room on the first floor was an inward facing room and the window was into an atrium so no view but quite well lit. Would have preferred a balcony or window with a view. But the room was modern and clean. Breakfast was good, freshly squeezed Orange juice and a nice selection of fruit, cheeses and meats, plus cereal, toast and pastries, but only cooked option was eggs. The spa is an 8 minute walk away. Went for a massage which was very relaxing. The reception staff were all very friendly and helpful and provided us with a kettle and mugs to make tea and on the last day made as a takeaway picnic breakfast as we we’re leaving the hotel at 5am. Overall we had a really nice stay and will definitely return.

I payed for a dormitory with private bathroom. The toilet was clogged therefore not usable and the door to the shower room didn't close at all. Room was dirty and small, but that's not the worst part: I contacted the structure twice to let them know I've had knee surgery and couldn't climb up to a top bunk, was ignored both times. I arrived at the hostel and of course the only bed available was a top bunk. The receptionist shrugged showing me on the booking website that they don't read messages and told me 'I don't have a solution, I don't know, put the mattress on the floor and sleep there'. Bottom line, I paid to sleep on the floor and to have an unusable bathroom. When I checked out this morning 27/2 , there was a different receptionist so I told her about how problematic and unpleasant my stay was. She couldn't care less, just replied 'ok, give me your key back'. These people don't give a crap and it shows.

Great balcony with views toward the cathedral. There is a lift from the ground floor. It's not overly easy to find due to GPS signal on phone being hard to use in the tight streets but we eventually found it. Was busy later on but started quiet. Drinks prices are reasonable and staff are great.

Malaga Top Hostel

Unworthy

Reviewed By Plisssa

It's a very basic place. All you get is a bunk bed and a locker. Even if you book a family room like I did, you get a bunk, a locker and four more uniseful ones. At 42 euros per night is no value. Malaga is basically one giant, spread hotel, so maybe at that price you can treat yourself to a "real" bedroom. Even if you are willing to share a common room, there are better deals in town. The place is uncomfortably dirty-ish. The room had no Windows and the ventilation system must have dirty filters because it didn't work at all. What nearly killed me was the stink. Bad smells covered with cheap deodorants and floors washed with a dirty mop. They do not offer any services at all. There is a guy there but only when there are arrivals. They don't even have a luggage storage w(hich is the bare minimum nowadays), unless you accept to pick up your luggage when ever they have è a check-in.

La Casa Mata

Welcome to "La Casa Mata", a new concept of low-cost pension in Malaga. It is a safe, warm and clean place in a wonderful location, right in the historic centre of Malaga. You can socialize with the other guests or just relax in the common areas within the house that are a fully equipped kitchen with all mod cons, a lounge with TV and DVD player and a sunny patio. It is a perfect option for modern people that wants to stay in private or shared rooms, but enjoy the common areas advantages as the 24 hours computer with internet access and WIFI.La Casa Mata is close to both train and bus stations at about 15 minutes walk. It is at a stone throw from all the sites of cultural interest such as Picasso museum, the cathedral, Alcazaba castle as well as all the best clubs in town for your wild nights out. Hostal Tilos

Pleasant hotel, convenient location for travelers

Reviewed By PiotrK1019

We chose Hostal Tilos for an overnight in Malaga due to its location – few minutes walking from the main bus station and Maria Zambrano railway station (the metro station is also there). We were not deceived and while passing Malaga again we’ll consider staying there once more. The room presents a good standard for such hotels: it’s of decent size, with a big and quite comfortable bed (with the bed linen and towels provided); there’s also a wardrobe and a TV, the room is also airconditioned. The bathroom, with a bath, is clean and modern. In general nothing serious to complain about. There’s no any bar in the hotel (just a vending machine), but there’s a shopping centre Larios few minutes away and another at the Maria Zambrano station, while there are more shops and bars on the nearby streets. Upon arrival the check in was quick and without any problems, the check out as well. The staff spoke English. Planning some sightseeing before leaving Malaga, we left the luggage at the hotel, which wasn’t a problem. Taking into the account the standard of the hotel there are two things that we can complain about: one is that there’s no any desk or table in the room, so if e.g. someone has to work or write it may problematic. The other is that the door to the room are not sound proof, so everyone can hear what happens outside. Fortunately there were no people making noise at night. As for the location one can consider that if comes by car then it may be problematic to find a parking place nearby, while walking to the centre takes more than 20 min.

Hostel Malaga City

The Hostel Malaga City is an hostel placed in the center of Malaga. We have plenty of spacious and colorful rooms in a modern 3-floor builing, newly restructured (in June 2016) and still presenting a beautiful style typical of the 19th century, such as marble stairs and fronting onto a beautiful courtyard with marble stairs , giving great beauty to the building. At the Hostel Malaga City we love our costumers and would like them to feel at ease in in a friendly and relaxed environment. Hostel Malaga city is located in the center of Malaga but easily accessible by car, making it the perfect place for backpackers and tourists who want to explore the city, looking for culture, or simply tapas! For example, it takes just 3 minutes to get to the Picasso Museum. The Malaga Cathedral, the Alcazaba , the Roman Theatre, the very famous street Larios and the Docks are "por supuesto" incredibly close to the strucure, just a few minutes walk from our hostel. The Pompidou museum , the MIMMA (Museo Interactivo de la Música de Málaga) and the museum of Glass are are other cultural offerings you can find in Málaga, and yet very close to our Hostel. Last but not the least, the Hostel is also very close to the recenlty renovated Mercado de la Merced, a great place where one can go "tapear" (if you had not known yet, yes: in Spanish there is a verb for the action of going for tapas!). The "Malagueta" beach is also a well-known attraction in Málaga. You can certainly go there for having a bath in the sea, but much more! Full with little bar-restaurants (the so-called "chiringutos") you will certainly very soon feel like tasting some of the best grilled fish of Andalucía, the "boquerones" for example, and (why not?) enjoying your meal with a glass of refreshing sangría or tinto de verano? Like all hostels, our Hostel Malaga City has a shared kitchen too, perfect for for guests looking to cook for themselves in between sight-seeing or relaxing while sharing stories with the other guests or planning your day out using the free wi-fi.

Best location in Málaga, clean and very fair prices. Not to mention all the upgraded rooms and new beds!

Reviewed By AndersSchnell

Best location in Málaga for sure, once you step out of the building you will be right at the beating heart of Spain with all the cafees, shopping, clubs, pubs, restaurants you can think of. Not to mention the beach is pretty close if you wan't to enjoy the sourroundings of palmtrees, mojitos and of curse the eternal sunshine from a clear blue skie. The Hostel is very clean, the personal nice and they are always a personal ready to help. The prices ære also extremely fair escpecially after all the upgrades they made including the brand new beds in the whole building and additional Queen bedrooms. I realy like this place. Works both for singles and couples and I recommend both the Queen and the single bedroom.
