The best available Bed and Breakfast Inns to stay near Ile-de-France

April 25, 2023 Veronika Gaddis

The palatial residences of Versailles and Fontainebleau, the romantic boulevards, stately museums and rich artistic history of Paris and charming villages within easy train trip's distance of the city make Ile-de-France an unbeatable destination. While big name attractions, such as Disneyland Paris, the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the Louvre, top the bill, visitors can sidle along the Seine, sip coffee on sidewalks and create their own memorable highlights in the City of Light and its surroundings.

Injustified cancellation

Reviewed By 531arildj

This hotel cancelled our booking made in February for the weekend 26-29 May, in early May, claiming that they had a water leak. We found this very hard to believe, since it should be possible to fix a water leak in more than 14 days, the time between their cancelling and our planned stay. Even more so, it turns out that the Champions league final will take place in Paris on the 28 May (having been moved from Moscow due to the war in Ukraine), with the result that all hotels in Paris increased their prices severalfold. We thus had to cancel our trip to Paris, since we could not get a new hotel to an affordable price. Moreover, rooms suddenly became available for our dates at Grand Hotel de Clermont, to a price that was ten-fold what we were supposed to pay. It seems obvious that the owners cancelled our booking because they could get much more money by offering them e.g. to prospective Champoins league partcipants. This behaviour is down right immoral and should not be legal. We will never book at this hotel again!

Recommend it for sure; near by the centre; nice; clean; friendly staff

I was with my friends, so there were two of us, and we liked this hotel very much. The staff is nice, kind and friendly. Room was very clean, comfortable, with stationary hair dryer, towels, 2 sachet of hair shampoo, soap. The flor was just a little too cold, but take your warm socks with you and that is all. Hotel situated near by center, with my friend we walked to the Notre-Dame just by foot, but we are very sporty, maybe that’s not a case of everyone. For us the hotel was perfect and the quarter is magnificent. Recommend this hotel for sure

More ‘b&b’ than hotel

Reviewed By marcelloup

We decided to stay one night at this ‘hotel’ at the end of a trip to Paris because of the reviews, and it’s relative closeness to the Gare de Lyon, which we arrived to by TGV. First thing to note: The hotel has no cooling system, so for stays in the summer when temperatures can be in the 30s, it’s not your best bet. The air in the upstairs common area was stuffy and hot. Our room was better because we could open the large floor to ceiling window, but there are lots of mosquitos (because of a dank, and dirty small pool / tub in the front yard ) and all the bees on the property, so opening windows is not a good option. The Dyson ventilator in the room doesn’t help- I don’t believe it’s a fan, maybe an air purifier? The property has no sign outside, and it’s easy to miss if you’re looking for a sign. Focus on finding red doors and the building number. To enter the property you go through a series of doors, all of which are opened by code. You must have a code to enter the doors and the code was emailed to us right before our stay. It is situated in the middle of a residential area, flanked by some residential mid-size apartment buildings with which it shares its entrance and some type of house on the right with which it shares its court yard. There are no elevators, so best to leave the heavy luggage at home. We got help from the receptionist to carry our bags up, but there was no one in the office the following day and due to a shoulder injury getting the bags down was challenging. When we were leaving at 9:30 am we didn’t know what to do with the room key as there was no one around, so we called the hotels main number and seemed to have woken someone up. The room was large and nicely decorated, and very clean, the bed was comfortable. There is a mini fridge stocked with fruit juices. There’s a safe deposit box. The breakfast was set out in the morning, and coffee was ready. There were fruits, croissants, bread, ham, cheese, yogurt and it was all quite good. All in all we found it to be interesting and different but not sure we would stay again.

I was previosuly in Paris in 2014 and I stayed at Au Royal Mad, and I got a pretty good experience: nice staff, good location and a modest, yet cozy and clean room. Five years later, while (re)discovering the city , I decided to reschedule my stay at the Hotel, a decision which I did not regret: I got the same service. They still maintain a good relationship on quality/price.
