Closing bar at 11pm on a Friday evening?

Reviewed By kennyaberdeen

This hotel is good but charges for various extras seem excessive and closing all services including the bar at 11pm on a Friday night is unacceptable. Customer facing services should be just that, services.

Overall great stay

Reviewed By littleloz72

We really enjoyed our stay here. Accommodation was great for what we needed. I wouldn’t stay here in Easter again with kids. It wasn’t ski in/out at this time of year due to lack of snow so made a very long walk back in ski stuff at the end of the day! Buses were not as frequent as we had hoped.

Excellent value for money for a ski hotel!

Our room faced the piste, but did not have a balcony, which was fine by us, as it was very cold outside. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was powerful. All the guests were French, so we enjoyed trying to improve our language skills. The staff were mainly French, but also some Mexicans, who spoke a little English. Damien (Maitre d') spoke perfect English to us, while we did our best to speak French to him. There was plenty of entertainment/activities on offer. The food was good and there was plenty of it, including free wine. There was free parking for our car and a free ski locker room down near the piste, which was a 5 minute walk away. Karin was a charming, helpful and friendly Director. Thank you for helping to make this a great holiday and we hope to stay again next winter.

Hotel Le Chalet Blanc

Wonderful boutique hotel with attentive and friendly staff and a fab restaurant and vibe

Reviewed By Marc S

We stayed 04/04/11 to 11/04/11. I don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to do so because we had such a wonderful stay. Staff were friendly, helpful and always had a smile on their faces - particularly Marie and Aleen on reception who were always very happy to help and had a good understanding of my terrible French and somewhat Northern English accent. It's a cosy, boutique hotel - lots of natural wood and materials, very eco friendly in design (you even have 'soap bar' shampoo to save countless bottles of plastic going to waste. Rooms were big enough, without being huge, comfortably sleeping 3 of us in the double floor room (second floor only) and my other 2 kids in a single room (which I believe also doubles as an adjoining room). The rooms also had small balconies which provided excellent views of the mountains and the ski slopes beyond. There's fresh coffee (with a cafetiere and a kettle) and water provided every day - but you can bring in your own stuff and store in it in the fridge. The on-site restaurant has a fabulous selection on the a la carte menu (there's also a daily set menu with fish, meat, etc options), with locally sourced, fresh produce. Breakfast is served daily - although we stayed on a room-only basis, we popped down to take a look and it all seemed very good. There's even a mini spa with a jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and showers which makes for a perfect end to a fantastic days' skilling on the slops of Montgenevre. I would happily recommend friends and family to visit - certainly those with kids and less experienced ski-ers. The resort of Montgenevre itself is compact and very cosy with a wide selection of restaurants - but won't appeal much to those 'apres ski' lovers due to the overarching 'family' feel to the resort. Overall, a fabulous hotel with lots of potential to get even better. Would highly recommend!

ABSOLUTE DISAPPOINTMENT

Reviewed By elliotbrown12836

We went on a school trip and it took 6 hours to get into our rooms. Then once we got into the rooms there was mud on the mattresses and cushions and some blood stains and the beds were not done. The walls are cracked and very thin and not very sound proof. It is also very cramped in the rooms with unstable bunk beds that are actually two single beds drilled together. The lobby and entrance is very un welcoming as it is in between two loud restaurants through an alleyway. The chairs are plastic in the dining room and food is on a whole new level. It is only just edible to the point were most of us are rejecting it, All we are really having is bread and water. We were served chicken today and we were told to check if it was cooked and a lot of the chicken was pink. The food has been 90% cheese based sauces and the plates are dirty and unhygienic. For example there was also hairs in food. There was a gas leak in he middle of he day for at least half an hour. Despite this the staff were nice and the location was good with a view of the slope out of the window, The slopes were across the road.
