This restaurant is tucked away just off the Main Street and it is well worth seeking out. It has an extensive choice of dishes and the service is polite and efficient. There are some very good places to eat in Montgenevre and this is definitely one of them.

Our group of six visited after a long day of travel. We were looking for something quick and filling but discovered (as have many before us apparently) that this is not the restaurant for quick. Or friendly. After we were seated we selected our items and waited. And waited. Some time later the waiter came over and asked for our drink order. We told him we were ready to order food but he brusquely told us we couldn't order food because another table (which arrived later than us) had to order first. Huh. Reminded me a bit of Seinfeld's Soup Nazi. So we ordered drinks and then waited. And waited. Finally he came and took our order. And then we waited some more. Approx 1.5 hours into the visit our pasta and pizza arrived - with a basket of bread that other tables received when they sat down.
The food was mixed. My gnocchi was tasteless, but the pizzas and lasagne were tasty. Prices were fair for a ski town.
I don't think I'd visit again given the unfriendly service and ok food. If, however, you just want to hangout for the evening and time is not an issue, it may be a decent option.

Originally, in the middle of 800 centuries, the building was used as a stable for the changing over of horses for the Postal Service which went all the way from Turin to Briançon. On the main column there is a stone sculpture inscribed upon which is the year of construction of the building dating back to 1854, along with the name of the family who once lived there. During the Second World War, a regiment of the Scottish Army passed through and sought refuge in the stable. Probably the name Kilt came as a sign of friendship and remembrance of the Scottish visit. The building has since been used as a club and, after restoration in 1986 by the present owners as a restaurant, the name Kilt was kept. The bar top, the doors and all the wood in the building came from a wooden chalet in the town of Bardonecchia in the early 1900s and contributed to the preservation of the buildings appearance as an old mountain chalet.

Osteria Italia is a delightful small family owned restaurant. We had an excellent dinner in December 2013 and would warmly recommend it to anyone. OI has a great selection of gourmet beers and traditional Piemonte and Tyrolean food. The owner is a food passionate gentleman and only to get to know him is worth the visit.

The whole family staying in a Neilson chalet for a weeks skiing etc and our hosts recommended this place for us to celebrate a birthday.
Two of us shared the raclette cheese dish and couldn't finish the cheese even after sharing it out.
Another two shared the beef fondue bourguignonne and loved it.
That just left two individuals who chose the pigeon and boar steak that were cooked to perfection. A couple of bottles of Saint Emilion helped make the mains enjoyable. Chocolate mousse, profiteroles and creme brûlée finished the meal.
Thoroughly enjoyable family meal with excellent service.

Staying in a chalet, we chose Caesar's on the host's night off and partook of the extremely reasonable 3 course set menu for €20 each and enjoyed french onion soup, steak & chips, iles flotantes with a carafe of rose wine. Service was friendly, well timed and attentive. We were even offered a free shot of the local genepi with the bill.
We returned 2 days later to enjoy delicious savoury filled crepes for lunch at €10 a total bargain and freshly cooked to order.

Visited Mi Chi? three times over our short 3 day stay in claviere. Great restaurant for aperitivo as well as dinner/lunches. The staff speak English and are helpful and friendly. The food is delicious - especially the pastas - the wild boat tagliatelle is highly recommended. Good value and ambience. They also seem to be open all the time which is great in a small village like Claviere.

We ate here as part of a Mountain Meal Experience where we were taken to the restaurant on Skidoo's in the evening. The food was great and we were never short of a drink thanks to fast service. Great mountain restaurant!Many thanks Best regards Luca and Gabriella Baita La Coche
