Arno and family are great hosts offering Basque hospitality in beautiful surroundings. There is a clear love of the area and this shows up in the friendly welcome and great food. We were only there for one night but would have gladly stay off longer - the hiking in the area is amazing.

Maison Amestoia

Excellent home base for exploring the Pays Basque + Acceuil très chaleureux

Reviewed By Anne R

We visited Maison Amestoia in mid June and can recommend it highly. Our room with a balcony overlooking the valley was roomy, very comfortable for lounging as well as sleeping, tastefully appointed, and the bathroom is huge with both shower and tub. Spectacular views, very warm welcome, towels swapped whenever we requested. Breakfast was superb, a feast, and varied every day. Marjorie and Stéphane are delightful and interesting hosts, and were able to refine our visit of the region with specific suggestions for hikes, places to visit, dining options etc. There is a guest refrigerator which is nice in case you need to chill or keep provisions frozen. The Pays Basque is definitely worth a visit and this is a great place to call home.

Perfect Basque experience

Reviewed By Pierre1321

My wife and I visited this charming hotel that nestles in the foothills of the Pyrenees last July. Not only was the scenery stunning but the accommodation was of very high quality. We stayed for a week in room 28 and were extremely impressed with the comfort, decor and cleanliness. We asked for a room overlooking the river but as one was not available during our stay we were given this room at the back of the hotel. All I can say is that if the "river rooms" are the best then they must be absolutely fabulous because room 28 was excellent. The Arce is, in a beautiful location and has a cuisine to die for. We had half-board and every day of our seven day stay we were served nothing twice and the quality of food (and wine) was exceptional. Every day a man brought out a fishing net full of fish from the river - how fresh is that? All the staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful. We can't wait to go back. By the way! The pool is fabulous.
