Reviewed By peijunj2020Kindness hotel is known for its’ good service. We were welcome by the friendliness of the staff at the front counter. carpark was nearby and it’s a mere 1-2mins walk. Hotel offered free ice cream and drinks always. They even have supper too. Food was good and I highly recommend this place!

Reviewed By EstTravellerI think this is the strangest hotel I have ever been but I mean it in the best possible way. It is quite obvious that Hwu Meei has been some kind of love hotel as the stress on privacy and room decor tell a clear story. For example you can drive your car into the private garage that is under your room so you can get in and out of your room without anybody actually seeing you. :) But we were a family of three, including a 2-year daughter touring beautiful Taiwan and all of us loved this place. We knew about the "special" situation of the hotel when we booked so we were not taken by surprise. The room was enormous and the bathroom had a large jacuzzi in it (with TV and sound system present in bathroom). Bedroom had different light settings that you could change with a remote (yeah!), extra wide comfortable bed, small bed for our daughter, kitchen area and a massage chair. Yes, that's correct - a massage chair. Everything was squeaky clean and it was dead quiet at nights. We stayed there for three nights and we literally had nothing to complain about. Check-in and check-out were very smooth, breakfast plentiful and tasty and the location of the hotel suited best for our needs. The main reason why we stayed in this part of Tainan was its closeness to wetlands. I have a wildlife photography hobby and the Sicao wetlands were some 20 minutes drive away so during early mornings I could be really fast "on site" with my camera. And it paid off really well as the bird life was abundant in Sicao. Hwu Meei is also just a short walk away from Wusheng Night market. So all in all this is a very recommendable place if you can look past the "love hotel" atmosphere. We absolutely loved the hotel and if we ever go back to Tainan, we would definitely like to stay there again.

It's a love hotel.
Reviewed By BoriskiThis was an overnight stop for me on a cycling tour of Taiwan. What's good: room was very very large and clean. Bed was the softest in 3 weeks of travel in Taiwan. What's not so good: The room reeked of cigarette smoke. It was even in the sheets. Please get with the times Taiwan and stop letting people smoke in hotels. Some hotels in Taipei fine smokers, others seem to still allow this. As an athlete on a cycling tour, it is putrid smelling smoke while you are trying to sleep. It's also a 'love hotel', which unfortunately I didn't see advertised in the Agoda listing, which was annoying, so there are condoms next to the bed. I didn't use the jizcuzzi either... There is only one powerpoint in the entire room, so if you need to use a hairdryer in the bathroom, you can"t, and you'll have to leave your mobile phone over in the corner. I guess if you're there for the love hotel you won't care about your phone, but I was trying to do route planning for the next day, and spent hours in the corner, on the floor, like a naughty kid, just so my phone would have charge. It's a wierd arrangement checking in. Most people probably arrive in vehicles. I didn't and ther is no reception counter and they started to check me in on the driveway. I had to pull stuff out of my backpack onto the driveway to get my passport out, befire I asked if we could go into their office. There's also no key for the unit so if you ever want to leave your love nest and eat (I did!), you'll have to press the roll door button and then run under it before it closes on you. On returning back to the property, the office will open the roller dior for you so you can get back in. Trying to leave the next morning wuth a fully loaded bike and dodge the roller door was almost as good as dodging Taiwanese traffic. A block away there was a 7-eleven, and not much else. It was okay for an overnight stay but the cigarette smoke ruined my stay. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't stay again.

Taiwanese "Love-Hotel", but own transport required!
Reviewed By axschomeeI was surprised when my partner told me that the check-in-time for the hotel in Tainan he booked over the internet, was 9pm! But having lived in Japan for some years I immediately had a suspicion about what kind of hotel that could possibly be... And I was right! The "Dryad"-hotel is located about 10 mins drive from the Tainan-HSR-station, and about half an hour by car from Tainan city (with all the attractions). As a tourist without own transport, you should not stay here as getting around (and to Tainan city) from here is very inconvenient and expensive! But if you have your own car, this hotel is worth a try. Rooms are are typically rented out upto 3 times (twice during daytime and once for overnight stay) which explains the late check-in time. The check-in process is very discrete and takes place at the gate - no need to leave your car! From there proceed directly with your car to the private garage adjacent to your room, close the garage-door (motor-driven of course) and enter your room from there! Being shocked by the very kitsch lightning I did not immediately realize that the room had no windows to the outside world, but soundproof walls. And it was spacious, had a big bed and a HUGE bathroom with a whirl-pool. Of course, a big TV with several "adult" programmes and a box with condoms and lubes at the bedside-table ;-) Breakfast the next morning was much better than expected with a good choice of continental and Chinese delicacies! All over, the hotel is very good value for money if you do need to stay in Tainan city and do not mind the late check-in time (you may, however, call the hotel in the afternoon of your arrival day and ask whether the room would be available earlier. Chances for this on weekends are not good...). I enjoyed staying here - in Western countries you may not find this kind of motel-standard at such a good rate. And it's another fun Taiwan experience! BTW: Love-hotels in Taiwan are much more tolerant than their Japanese counterparts. Same-sex-couples and single-travellers are as much welcome as straight couples!
