Reviewed By LeiMeisenWhat can we say? Thanks to the economic crisis and the pandemie Alhama is not the powerful town it once was. With a lot of closed shops and lots of younger people who left town for a prosperous future elsewhere. And then suddenly, all out of the blue, you discover this pearl at the Andalucía crown. AMALA and PACO run this beautiful place which was built up by their padres. For us, they make a topscore on three points. 1. The food. Amala is the chef de cuisine and what she cookes is amazing stuff, all with fresh ingredients from the land and the sea. We think that the quality of her meals deserve at least a Bib Gourmand by Michelin!! The restaurant is open to the public, so even if your not staying in their hotel ( which would be a bit foolish as you pass by Alhama) then you still can enjoy their dishes. It's the best you can get in that region! 2. The rooms and devices. The rooms are clean, with comfortable beds, private bathrooms and very well designed. Just as the common space for the restaurant, with lots of art at the walls. Again: very well designed. The sights from the terrace are beautiful, you overlook the beautiful green gorge. The terrace is also a place to enjoy your menu and breakfast or have a drink after your ride or walk. The breakfast is included and very enjoyable with home baked bread, jamon, tomatoes and fresh fruit. 3. The kindness of Alama and Paco who receive you as if you are true family, always prepared to answer your questions about the history of the village and the house and ready to fulfill your wishes. We would say that their service is also top of the bill. And ask them about the history of the house, which was build by their father, a famous flamenco singer, who wanted this hostal to be a vivid working place for the traditional flamenco with concerts, working shops and other activities. The father is honoured with a lot of pictures at the walls. For us this place was a warm bath thanks to the beautiful design, the warm welcome, the nice rooms and the excellent food. So maybe hostal Seguiriya should not only be listed in the hotel section, but especially in the pages of best restaurants. Thank you Alama ( and husband) and Paco, we had a great stay at your place and we are looking forward to your new flamenco activities in the autumn and winter.

Reviewed By Artehair2014The hotel was rustic and well kept, the rooms very basic and the noise of the next door rooms was very loud, our neighbours had screaming small children. So not a lot of rest for us. We had pre booked spa treatment via email, but the reception "forgot" to mention that we needed to book a certain time for this in advance, so upon arrival the spa was fully booked , which caused unwanted stress. after a long day riding we were looking forward to our pre booked spa sessions. The food was excellent and so was the service, the breakfast was perfect , the rooms were clean.

Ana, Maria and their parents are great hosts and were quick to respond to any questions we had. Would definitely reccommend to anyone staying in the Alhama area.

One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest
Reviewed By robdH2752WOThe remote town of Alhama de Granada deserves a better hotel than this place. Balneario de Alhama de Granada Hotel (not to be confused with Balnerio in Aragon) is set in a gorge with lots of nature and scenic countryside walks. The atmosphere and decor makes the hotel feel like a psychiatric hospital. It's a funny farm with very tired rooms and spaces. A massive refurbishment is needed or perhaps a bulldozer would be the best option. The ground floor bar was the best thing. It had footy on the TV and the waiters bring out random snacks and crisps if you order some beers and sit down. The huge restaurant upstairs only serves prison style meals with no taste, seasoning or flavours. It was a dreadful dinner (but the breakfast was okay with bacon and scrambled eggs being served). The coffee was disgusting, not freshly ground, tatsed strange, and the juices were not made with fresh fruits but concentrated with sugars. This part of Spain has great local produce but they do not provide it here. It seemed to be some kind of hotel for geriatrics. The food was bland to the point of being inedible or unidentifiable. The rooms did not even have kettles or cups to make a brew so don't expect any frills. The towels were tiny and the showers had variable temperatures, running hot and mild. The staff were unassurade or lacked interpersonal skills. They did not put guests at ease and did not go out of their way to be freindly. There were no reception skills evident. Dinner was a scary expereince due to the poor menu and the food being like school dinners from the 1970s. Do yourself a favour and find another hotel in another town - or eat out in Alhama and simply use it as a bed and breakfast stay over. On the plus side it was very quiet and calm due to the elderly clientel. Did not try the pool or spa but they make you wear caps and there is no information for guests to undersatand where stuff is, how the hotel functions, what services are available and the timings of things seemed to suit the hotel owners and not the guests, or were obsure. The free wi-fi worked well and you simply find it on your phone settings (saves asking the reception staff who seem to hide or have no communication skills). The other low score reviews on this website mirror our stay. Good luck here.

Cortijo Las Montoras is a 250 year old farmhouse " Cortijo" recently renovated to offer our guests the beauty of traditional andalucian architecture and the conforts of modern life. Located in the spectacular paraje Matajacas, you will find yourself surrounded by olive and almond trees, enjoying the peace and quiet of the countryside, but only a few minutes away of Alhama de Granada city.
The Warmest Place in Alhama This Winter Season
Reviewed By rockinrhylieI stayed on this lovely retreat center as a volunteer and I left the place as a part of the family. You can't get anything better than that, I say. Whilst there's a relaxing ambiance, abundant sunlight, clean rooms, sufficient amenities, comfortable beds, and delicious homecooked meals, the place was oozing with kindness and warmth from the owners themselves. I didn't just enjoy helping them out with groundworks and pet care, I also learned a lot about rural living. You will find it impossible not to like this place! The house itself was built from the ruins of what used to be a 250yo house; and now displayed a lot of historic memorabilia within it. Every room has an ensuite bathroom, and the downstairs space is perfect for a family or a group to chill, live, cook, play games, read, and just enjoy a life away from the usual city noise. So if you're looking for a place where you'll feel home while away from home, Cortijo Las Montoras should be on top of your list.

The portions are enormous - my husband had the pork fillet and a whole fillet sliced in two down the middle arrived. None of us could eat all our food. The cooking was very simple, everything served with sauteed potatoes. One big complaint is that the chairs are dreadfully uncomfortable.

Todo se encontraba súper limpio, ordenado y además las personas que nos atendieron siempre fueron súper amables y atentos en que la estancia fuera lo mejor posible. Además puedes encontrar en el apartamento todo lo que necesitas para tener una estancia corta. Sin duda volveremos y lo recomendaremos.

Reviewed By mole_32We were very lucky to find a room here at late notice during Semana Santa. We were greeted with such warmth by the owners, who let us store our bikes safely somewhere. It's basic and cheap and the room but perfectly comfortable. In fact I had my best nights sleep here! There is a lovely restaurant / bar next door and the pension is very central. It would have felt a lot less cosy if the owners hadn't been so warm and friendly! Thank-you!
