The 10 best Hostels hotel in Queensland, Australia

May 1, 2023 Renato Branum

Some of Queensland’s most remarkable sights require you to leave terra firma. Off its coast sits the Great Barrier Reef, the world's largest coral reef. Snorkel and scuba among 1500 resident fish species, or sail through the Whitsundays’ white-sand atolls. Back on dry land, you’ll find tropical escapes in the Daintree Rainforest to the north, rugged outback to the west and alfresco dining on the Gold Coast in the south. South East Queensland boasts mountain views, vineyards and ‘river city’ Brisbane.

Excellent experience

Very glad we booked here as part of our honeymoon! The cabins are recently renovated, very spacious and super cute! Lovely grounds that made it feel like we were staying in a rainforest but right on the Main Street. The magnums pub was also one of the best in town and very fun. Was initially concerned about it might be noisy but we could hear a thing in our cabin. Very affordable too (importantly including the pub). Will be recommending to others.

Fantastic lodge! Tom & Kev are terrific and so accommodating! They are pleasant to everyone and even though there are some disrespectful guests, they try their hardest to get them to pick up their act so it doesn't affect others. Bonnie the friendliest dog at reception is gorgeous ? and a bonus in my eyes ?. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful time staying at Travellers Oasis in April. The place is really pretty, clean, with an abundance of facilities and feels like a family home. However the best thing about this hostel, are the owners! Gabe, Cathy and their daughter Poppy (and Dean) were so friendly and welcoming and could not do more for us! The best hostel we have stayed in yet!!

Beautiful, peaceful stay

Stayed for a night at the Beach House between two halves of a rainforest tour. We are so glad we made the decision to come and stay - it was a highlight in an amazing holiday. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful with everything, our room was really clean and comfy and we were impressed by the restaurant. The whole place was so peaceful, we honestly felt like the only people in the world at times. The beach is stunning and a few yards away, recommend the walk to the lookout. Had the pool to ourselves for the morning and enjoyed the restaurant (particularly the kangaroo special and watching the beautiful golden orb spiders). Thanks so much for a magical stay!

Great experience

I stayed in a single room with shared ensuite and it was awesome. I’ve stayed in hotels that charged way more and weren’t as nice as this. The room is smallish but is big enough to be comfortable. It was modern as well, which was nice. The check in staff were really friendly and I just got really good vibes from the place. I’m a 40 year old female so this isn’t my usual place to stay (I originally thought that because it’s a “youth” hostel that I might not be allowed to stay - LOL) but I would definitely stay here again. BTW, my room and shared bathroom were meticulously clean. Great location - heaps of eateries in the area and the Noosa Junction bus station is just a short walk away.

Quite disappointed. The bar was closed, even though it should be open. NO cutlery, cups, glasses or plates available in the kitchen. Guests have to pay a deposit for all these stuff. It’s the first hostel that I have seen this, so annoying. I have been in other YHAs and for sure this is the worst. Slow Wifi in the room, expensive.

A complete joke. Run-down, seems to be cheap accomodation for the local drug addicts. Won’t meet many genuine back packers here. Rooms were dirty, beds were dirty. I was in a 20 person dorm room and was sharing with an old couple who were coughing unhealthily and slurring their words. Some friendly faces but only met locals who couldn’t afford rent. Even the locals staying there didn’t rate the owners behaviour. I’d give it 0 stars if I could. Ended up checking out the same day as I felt more comfortable on the street than here. Just don’t.
