Magnificent mansion for a night(s) stay
Reviewed By RafaeloAQuinta de Lavandas is an exceptional place for a night (or nights) stay. It is a magnificent mansion outside Costello de Vida. The room is well decorated and was very clean. The breakfast was wonderful, all a person can expect from a breakfast-menu. The owner, Teresa, is very helpful. She knows the area very well, and assisted us very kindly.

Reviewed By Lilia PWhat did I like? I liked everything about Herdade da Diabrória. Let's do it by steps. The room is large, well decorated, well soundproofed and fresh. (with 40C outside, I turned on the air conditioning once). The beds are very comfortable, as are the pillows. The bathroom is perfectly adequate and functional. Breakfast is good, varied and fresh. It is worth mentioning the carrot cake and the pumpkin compote, which are delicious! The staff is ALL fabulous! Extremely helpful, friendly, welcoming and in a good mood. On one of the days, at lunch/snack I ordered a Diabrória Salad with changes (because I'm lactose intolerant) and it came perfect and was wonderful. The pool is big enough, perfectly adequate and functional. The scenery around the pool is fabulous. You can hear the ducks, birds, turtledoves and enjoy the surrounding natural beauty scenery. It is a perfect place to rest and unwind. All anti-Covid rules are strictly adhered to. Definitely a place to come back to and even explore in winter too.

Great and quiet outdoor spaces but low quality bungalow
Reviewed By AndreAlvesPTAmazing vineyard where you can walk/cycle around, spot the deer family and visit their wine cellar. The hotel main building and pool are also beautiful but the bungalow was a let down. It is a prefabricated box (as used on construction sites) with a wooden cover and the interior stylized. The wallpapers were damaged, the wc floor squeezed and the cleaning was poor (dead fly all 4 days) and only the water was replaced. So it's better to choose a "regular" room.

Reviewed By RedNigeWell off the beaten track this place was not what we had hoped for. Simple rooms with a nice pool were about it. It was clean. Breakfast was OK and the staff pleasant. For us a one hour round trip to get anything descent to eat was a good enough reason not to return.

They are plenty of lounges chairs and a great bar that is open between 09am to 6pm. They is also a great bbq place with stone barbecue. The place offer also a outdoor shower and bathrooms. Every units have his unique designs and personality. The place never feels full even if it is time to time. Sergio the owner make sure that you have everything you need to bring a great time wile you are there. The place is very clean and responds to all the COVID restrictions. The place is very suitable for couples or family with small or big kids. Plenty of activities around with Monsaraz castle or the beach with water activities or dark Skye to explore the wonderful solar system, all the wineries and local pottery. Casa do Frade offer also a great and delicious sushibar in Monsaraz or some takeout. The sushi’s are so fresh and tasteful, one of the best we have taste so far. Every unit also have a great private kitchen fully furnished with pots and pans, oven, stove, big fridge and freezer to make it easier to make your own diner in family. We was very happy to have bring times in Casa do Frade and will definitely come back in our next visit in Alentejo. Thank you all for a wonderful times in a home far from home.

Great Location
Reviewed By Janet NStayed for five nights while visiting friends in the area which we know well. Arrived at 7pm and they were expecting us. Check in was swift and efficient. Borrowed a hair dryer from reception and asked for extra pillows. We stayed in room 8 nice and large but as we thought very basic. Small flat screen TV and that’s about it. You can have access to a communal fridge near reception we took our own kettle and borrowed cups. The room was spotlessly clean with an amazing view. One day we spent buy the pool which is lovely with plenty of sun beds. Breakfast is fairly simple ham cheese, cake of course (that’s Portugal ) cereal, local bread fruit and yogurt.. we did not have an evening meal. The down side is the room service is a bit had hoc every day we had to ask for clean towels and toilet rolls only once did they make up the room change the bedding and empty the bin.. we were not sure if this is the deal or they were just very lax. The biggest problem was the WiFi as the advertising said available in all areas and rooms. It is not and we were told right away you have no WiFi in your room. You can get a signal in reception but it’s very poor..they should amend the advertising. This caused us quite a problem.. They need a little more thought going into the rooms and because of this and the WiFi we will not stay their again yet we visit the area regularly..
