The 10 best Campgrounds in Mississippi, United States

April 19, 2023 Joeann Galban

From 24-hour casinos, upscale shopping and luxurious spas in Tunica to the Civil War sites in Vicksburg to the lush golf courses, beaches and upscale casinos in Biloxi and Gulfport, Mississippi offers visitors a wide range of vacation experiences. Vacationers to Mississippi can choose from a diverse group of destinations and activities. On the Gulf Coast in Biloxi and Gulfport, casino gaming, big name entertainment shows, deep-sea fishing and golf, are popular pastimes. In Vicksburg, the Vicksburg National Cemetery and Civil War sites draw many visitors. In historic Natchez, you can take a scenic drive on the Natchez Trace Parkway or visit Frogmore Plantation, one of eight plantations originally owned by a wealthy Natchez planter. For an urban experience, Jackson, dubbed the “City with Soul” has over 50 nightclubs featuring Soul, Jazz, Blues, Rock and other musical genres. Tunica offers great casinos, golf and big name entertainers such as Bonnie Rait, Smokey Robinson and George Jones. Golfers, rejoice! Mississippi has more than 150 golf courses. Among the high-profile courses on everybody’s must play list are The Links at Cottonwoods and Tunica National Golf Tennis Club in Tunica and Grand Bear Golf Club in Saucier and The Bridges Golf Club at Hollywood Casino. Families visiting Mississippi fall in love with the heaping portions of Southern hospitality. Family-oriented activities are plentiful in Mississippi whether it’s enjoying the beaches on the Gulf Coast, visiting the home of Elvis Presley in Tupelo or riding a huge paddlewheeler on the Mississippi River.

Terrible manager

Reviewed By Q3181IRdavidm

We have been at this park for years. It used to be a great place. When the new manager took over the park has steadily gone downhill. She picks and choices who the rules apply to. Grass is out of control because the maintenance staff is understaffed. Manager is rude and has a supposed to be housekeeper that is constantly creating unnecessary drama. The manager needs a class in “hospitality”. Don’t waste your time and money here.

Very clean campground!

Reviewed By DebbieFortin

One of the nicer campgrounds we have stayed at, the grounds were meticulously manicured grass & paved sites. The bathrooms were particularly extra clean and I preferred taking a shower in there even though we own our own 35 foot RV mainly because it was usually empty, showers were hot, the water pressure was good and they were free! And did I say they were clean clean clean kudos to whoever maintains the bathroom and laundry area. Also not many trees so the sites are pretty sunny so if you’re there for an extended time it might be too too hot but if you’re just there to see Graceland for a day or two it was fabulous. Great pull through spots

Very adequate RV park. Served our purpose to explore Vicksburg. No shuttle to casino but walkable except the hill coming back can slow you down. Overall, we were level, good water, clean outside (did not use facilities). Would stay again plus good pricing, if you are Good Sam.

Awesome place for a quiet getaway

Reviewed By G8530TDjasonp

Our family has visited most of Mississippi’s state parks, and this is one of the best. Our cabin was nice and had a great view of the lake. There was a fire pit in the backyard, which was a huge plus because most parks don’t let you have campfires when renting cabins. Our children loved the water park and the swimming area, and we hiked every trail. We also enjoyed disc golf.

I called this site and received instructions for check in. The guy was super nice and met me at the gate to escort me back to my site. It was an easy to navigate pull on site. On site was an awesome store, pool, patio, playground, laundry and shower facilities. Store was well stocked with food, hygiene, RV supplies, cold and frozen items as well as souvenirs. They even make their own shirts and freeze dried items. Overall excellent stay and would stay again in this area.

Nice place to overnight or stay

Reviewed By shelleylee7250

We were only there overnight, but they do have a nice pool & playground so I'm thinking summer would be nice too. They have portable fire pits (not many) & the wood you purchase is definitley hardwood. We only needed one bunch to cook our foil dinners & it was still going strong with the last piece of wood from the bundle when we were done. Sites are a little close where we were, but quiet. The roads to the campground are narrow & there is a junkyard right down the street, but the campground itself if very clean & well kept up. Unfortunately they don't have control on the location. There is also a small camp store but we didn't really spend much time there. They send lots of texts, reminding when office closes, thanking you for the stay, etc. Good communication.
