beautiful courthouse

Reviewed By 46febec

The interior of this courthouse is stunning! But because it is all connected with a patio, very noisy (and little privacy). The room was beautiful but smelled. Breakfast was good and staff was very friendly. Rooms where not cleaned during the stay. Al in all, It is definitely worth the price and very beautiful, but don’t expect a very luxueus stay.

A wonderfully unique experience, could not fault anything at all. Still dreaming about returning here. Thank you Sarah!

It does not often happen that I am speechless, so this will be my first. What an amazing place Sarah and her father have created out of two old houses. Beautiful, classy, intimate and open at the same time. Everything in this place has been chosen with the utmost care and is of the highest quality. The breakfast experiences lush, pleasant and personalized and you will even be invited to take some food with you, something you should have tested and could not quite fit in. Plenty of fresh fruit, juices, freshly baked cake and pastry, French and Tunisian cheeses and home-made jams! I regressed not having tried the Hammam (yes, there is a small Hammam!!!) and not used the pool (kind of early in the season. This is one of those places where you visit and actually do not want to leave the premises. I think my husband and I were the only guests at the time, so we got unlimited time from the host and absolute quietness. Restaurant suggestions were excellent and well taken as well as parking directions. I would move to this place tomorrow if I could. I actually already miss Tunisia. But I will aim to return instead. Price is so reasonable too for the 5 star hotel experience.

Receptions staff is willing to assist with planning, & information. Breakfast buffet is not large but offers a variety. They also offer a 3 day/ 2 night trip to the South that is well priced and paced. I booked upon arrival (not sure in season if this would work) and left 2 days later. Enjoy!

An oasis of style and taste on Djerba

Reviewed By bramhubbell

Dar Bibine is a special oasis for travelers. We only met Gerard, but he also told us many stories about his wife. They have lovingly built the most beautiful little bed and breakfast on Djerba. Each of the five rooms are unique and immaculately decorated. Every morning Gerard oversaw a unique breakfast being prepared for all the guests. He even explained how certain recipes were handed down from his grandmother. And if you're lucky Gerard might share a delicious bottle of Tunisian wine or some spirits after a day of exploring Djerba. You will love every minute at Dar Bibine.

Hebergement - Tente ElBey

Exceptional in every aspect of authenticity and comfort.

Reviewed By mercymE260FM

Spending 2 relaxing nights at the Tente ElBey Hotel, on the fringe of the Sahara, was a highlight of my cultural adventure in Tunisia. The room was really nice, the mattress and bedding were extremely comfortable and of high quality, the bathroom and toilet were hygenic. The place is decorated and designed incredibly detailed and beautiful, with handcrafted furniture and genuine Bedouin tents and constructs. In summary, a cozy Bedouin themed luxury hotel, in the desert, without the modern materials. There was no plastic and no need for distracting electronics. It was refreshing and clean, and at night the lighting adds a notalgic atmosphere. The staff are nice and attentive, and the owner is very welcoming and helpful. I would definitely recommend the place, the restaurant, and also the sunset and sunrise drive and camel rides as the hotel and locals know the best times and spots.

La Chambre bleue

The Suite "La Chambre blue" is a large room of Tunis'Italianizing 19th Century style, has its own living space, a sofa bed, an intimate queen bed alcove, and a shower room. Restaured in what used to be the stables of a traditional house, The Makhzen is the 2d room with crossed vaults and column of the XIVth century. It gives access to a small private open-air courtyard "The Makhzen loft" restored and adapted with the modern accomodations, includes well-equipped kitchen reserved for long stays. On the first floor the covered patio and the dining room are the common parts of the house. There is also a library with board games and touristic guides. Great b&b

Reviewed By yns_10

We were fortunate that when we contacted Sondos that she had the Makhazen room (with the cross-vault soaring ceilings and a column) available. The room has a private courtyard and is very spacious. The bathroom is quirky (no door) but functional. The walk-in shower is a small alcove but as there is no shower door or screen it does not feel cramped (nor did the bathroom get wet!). Breakfast is served upstairs in the dining room. There were significant changes every day but constant were an outstanding juice (prune, peach and banana), yoghurt, black bread toast, ricotta and a large array of jams and honey plus coffee/tea. The girl service breakfast and making our room was so delightful! Breakfast was served from 08:30 and we never had any appetite for lunch afterwards! Sondos arranged an airport pick-up for us which was nice as La Chambre Bleu is located in the Medina. However, the Medina is compact and we never had any issues finding our around. Be aware that the shops close early 17:00-17:30: then the souks and the Medina are dark - phone flashlights are useful as rubbish goes into the centre of the ‘street’ for removal but is likely still there when you are walking back to your room at night. We never heard any external noise when we were in the room which made for excellent rest. Sondos provides us with a great map of the Medina with restaurants, cafes, and sights to visit which simplified getting around. A fabulous base in a wonderful, underrated city/country. Highly recommend.

Perfect guest house for a stay in Kairouan

Reviewed By Jameela D

We spent 2 nights in the Suite Zakia in April 2019 and everything was prefect and even more! The suite was stunning in the old traditional Tunisian style. The bed linens were fresh and clean and everything was there for a good night sleep. The suite was spacious enough and decorated with old style furniture. It was absolutely clean. The rest of the house is worth a visit in itself and spectacular. Breakfast was served on the rooftop terrace and everything was made fresh and delicious (especially the oranges, the best I've ever had). The lady even went to the market each morning to bring back fresh bread, croissants and donuts. There was definitely enough food for everyone and some more that we took for our day's walk around the city. The lady in charge, Madame Feten, is extremely friendly and welcoming and went beyond what we could expect from a guest house host. She even cooked a traditional Tunisian couscous when my kids told her they liked Tunisian food. Added bonus: she can speak English and French as well as Arabic. The location of the house couldn't be better: right in the heart of the old medina, a very short walk from the souk/market and the Great Mosque of Kairouan which you can actually see from the roof. Easy to find, parking space available too. Only one word: PERFECT
