The Mustard Seed

Reviewed By LaineVirginia

This is one of my favorite places to eat lunch when I am in Kingsport, TN. The quiche is delicious. I really enjoy the homemade salad dressings, the strawberry poppyseed was delicious today! I saved my points all week for a piece of coconut cake, which is my favorite. What a disappointment! It has a chemical/preservative taste, and a bitter aftertaste. And the icing is like eating refrigerated lard...that could be subjective since I don’t like regular icing! Coke should have never changed their recipe and The Mustard Seed should not have changed theirs either! Please bring back the OG coconut cake!!

Betty's Stockyard Cafe

What a great place! Small & cozy, no frills but we liked it so much we went 2 days in a row for breakfast. Betty is awesome, server Ava was great & the local folks sitting around the horseshoe shaped counter are super friendly. Your typical hole in the wall diner but worth the trip!!

Maybe The Two Dads have lost sleep with early morning feeding but something has changed. The food is still mostly good but it is not great. The pork tenderloin was a tough tasteless piece of meat. Eggs and meat were served cold. But the pancakes were hot and delicious so they saved the day. Coffee seemed to be very weak with little flavor. All we can say is sorry for your bad experience! We will continue to improve.

Once again, my mom and I were looking for somewhere to eat lunch. I decided to take her to the Courtyard. It is a little off the beaten path downtown, on the corner of a quiet street. The decor is a little quirky, but I think it is cute. Kind of reminds me of my granny's house. The service is quick and friendly. I always get the pecan quiche and spinach salad. It is scrumptious! I love the dressing on the salad, and the quiche is always yummy. I saw the other reviewer complaining about lack of healthy options. I don't see where that would be a problem, as they have assorted salads and sandwiches that wouldn't break the diet. Their desserts are excellent, especially the fudge pie. All in all, a fun little place to eat.
