Tasmania Bed and Breakfast Inns | Places to Stay in Tasmania

May 1, 2023 Jacquiline Darosa

Off Australia’s South Coast you’ll find the rugged and beautiful island of Tasmania — a unique destination where you can see Tasmanian devils, walk in the wilderness, take in stunning eco-cruises, taste artisanal cheeses and even explore a controversial art museum. The best way to see it? Take the back roads, but allow plenty of time: A short drive in any direction can lead to wineries, distilleries, marine farms, convict settlements, pristine beaches, fields of lavender and national parks…

A rustic cottage that is warm and comfy

Reviewed By LynR209

We stayed in the one bedroom Oyster Catcher cottage up on the hill overlooking the bay. Large well equipped lounge, similar kitchen, smallish bathroom and bedroom. Great wood burner keeps the place toasty on a cold night. Big decks with great views. Furniture is a bit tired and knocked around, but good bed. Everything you need for a short stay.

Cosy and comfortable, period charm with a personal touch

A two night stay in the Sterling Room - which was beautifully comfortable and well equipped. Such lovely friendly staff and though travelling alone, I felt very comfortable and welcome. The guest sitting room with open fire is very cosy and welcoming and preordering some of the delicious in house prepared dinner a must, rather than venturing out on a crisp Cygnet night!

Expensive barracks

Reviewed By paulvR2917BI

We booked based on their website which shows heritage style buildings that looked appealing. Considering we booked a 2 bedroom apartment at close to $300 we expected to stay in them. We were sent up the road to some old army barracks that were upgraded. They were small with minimal facilities & we felt claustrophobic & left early, considering the costs of many others we stayed in that week we would not recommend it.

Hawley House

Hawley House (c.1878) offers heritage accommodation in a spectacular seaside location overlooking sandy beaches, set amongst 400 acres of gardens and wildlife sanctuary. Hawley unashamedly embraces the patina created by her 150 year history, and the idiosyncrasies of being a family home. Guest rooms feature original artworks and antique furnishings. Centrally located and easily accessible to Devonport, Launceston and Cradle Mountain. We are pet friendly (on request) and serve fantastic evening meals by arrangement.

Delightful Retreat

Reviewed By traceyfN6464AA

Our teams arrival was quite late, but each of our 10 rooms had heaters and electric blankets on waiting for us. Sophie is amazing and gifted in hospitality! Having our own bathroom and spacious rooms was a bonus. Very quirky and homely. Wifi is dodgy which was slightly frustrating. Grounds are lovely, and being so close to the beach for that early morning sunrise was gorgeous. We also had an evening meal that was comparable to any fancy restaurant. Proximity to all of our other activities was perfect.. Cradle Mountain, De Lorraine, Burnie and Squeaking Point. This was my first time in Tassie and I'll be back for sure.

The Florance

Superbly located within Launceston's CBD, opposite the city's landmark City Park, The Florance is the perfect base to explore the region of Northern Tasmania. Inspired by the park side location, the botanical theme flows throughout the restored Victorian property bringing with it a sense of calm, and the perfect place to rest your weary head having spent the day exploring. We are situated in the hub of the original part of the early establishment of Launceston. Overlooking the incredible trees within the City Park, close to the very best restaurants and bars.

Clean, welcoming and only a txt away if you need anything or any question you may have. Not far from cataract gorge. We stayed 2 nights with easy check in and check out, and we opted for the complimentary red wine. Well worth the visit.

A hideaway right next to centre of town

Reviewed By JElliot32

We were pretty happy with our stay at the Hideaway, which is just a few blocks from downtown Lonnie, with its many good cafes and shops. While George St is busy, the hotel's 'hideaway' location is set well back from the street so is very quiet and its elevation gives good views across the city. The room was clean, nicely decorated and spacious enough, wifi reception good. Two things bothered: there was just one towel rail (and no hooks) in the otherwise excellent bathroom; secondly, the noise coming from the next rooms. The walls seemed to be solid brick but we one could hear muted conversations from the next room.

We didn’t stay in the hotel accommodation because we had a camper van, only a $10 fee to park the van for the night (non powered) - great price! We did though have an amazing meal in the hotel and the staff were lovely!! So lovely and toasty sitting by the fire drinking warmed spiced cider!!! Perfect for the Tassie weather!
