The reception and service is very amicable... and the venue warm...And SOME of the tastes were delightful, including the taster, the ravioli and the asparagus soup... Unfortunately, my tagliolino was totally bland... Way too much variation in the quite limited menu...Many thanks for your feedback to our dishes. We would be delighted to serve you again soon.What do you mean with too much variation and limited menu? Would be love to have some more feedback. Anyway, our menu changes from season to season and I'm sure to match your criterias with our improved menu the next time!

A big plus for a vegetarian menu and quality of food. Everything we ordered was very tasty although the selected da enzo merlot was a bit disappointing. Allow 2 hours for a whole dinner otherwise you will get frustrated. I rarely comment on prices but this time I will say it "this place is damn expensive".

A special dinner on a warm summer's evening watching night fall over the lake. The outside tables have unique location in Ascona in a beautiful garden overlooking Lake Maggiore. The food more than matched the setting, with outstanding cooking, an excellent (and reasonably priced) wine list and careful service. Highly recommended.thank you very much for your fantastic rating. We have been to this Grotto for dinner on a sunday eve (18:45).. we did not have a reservation but still got a table directly... we ordered sparerips and roast beef with typical polenta.. a nice small bottle of Amarone wine and big bottle of water and later Tiramisu and maroni cake with ice cream for dessert... everything was tasty and the service/staff very quick and attentive... finally bit pricey with about 140 CHF... but at the end of the day it was a nice evening in a nice location .... we will come again

Since Marina was one of the top rated Trip Advisor restaurants in Ascona we made reservations. Unfortunately the restaurant didn't live up to our expectations at all. The service was bad. Ignorant servents and mediocre food. We had to send out the carpaccio since it was so tough, and didn't even get an excuse. "It's supposed to taste like this" was the response. Well - no - It's NOT suppused to taste like that ... Beyond that we had to ask for the bread basket, and not until we were about to leave the restaurant they lighted the candles on the table. And do I need to say that my daughter who ordered spaghetti bolognese ended up with carbonara ...? Sorry Marina, we are not coming back, and we are not going to recommend your restaurant. There are so many other more cosy restaurants in Ascona with better service and greater food.Dear MadamThank you for having taken the time to leave a statement concerning our restaurant Marina. Very nice restaurant with typical dishes from the area, accessible by car or a (longer) walk from Ascona. Especially recommendable for an early dinner on a hot day, just great to sit under big trees and still see the sun shining on the opposite hillside...Price/value ratio is also very good.

My wife and I had a terrific lunch in all regards. The service was prompt, attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The setting on the terrace with the view across Lago Maggiore and the general ambience were very nice as well. However, the excellent food is the real star. We each chose to have the three-course menu, which had been recently set for autumn. We found each of our dishes to be excellent: rabbit liver pate, hazelnut-encrusted venison, and peach tarte with caramel ice cream. Weâre currently planning when will be our next visit.Dear travelin-tommy, warm thanks for your great review. We are happy you had a terrific experience at our restaurant. Besides our daily changing 4-course menu, we have a quiet large menu card which we adapt about every 3 months, according to the season. The autumn menu card, which proposes also game, has just been set in the beginning of September and you were the first to taste it We are looking forward to seeing you soon again at the Collinetta for one more tasty lunch or dinner. Great plus the restaurant is open all day. Many places close between 2-6pm. The food was just OK, dry meat, not fresh tomatoes, salad not really crispy. Would recommend for a quick lunch only.
