Vatnsholt is a newly renovated country lodge in a beautiful setting above the lake of Villingarholt. From Vatnsholt you will enjoy a magnificent view where you can easily spot the Westman islands (Vestmannaeyjar), the glacier of Eyjafjall (Eyjafjallajökull), the Tinda Mountains (Tindfjöll), the famous volcano Hekla and the slopes of Hella. Vatnsholt is conveniently located 70 km from Reykjavik with an easy access from the main highway, only 16 km from the nearest town of Selfoss where you will find all the modern comforts a town has to offer.
Wash the pillows!!
Reviewed By linstiIt’s insanely unhygienic to put pillows that has never been washed as a pillow for your head to sleep on! How do I know they haven’t been washed? The cover was not removable from the pillow and it had some hair on it from a previous customer. I would like an answer from the hotel on why they think it’s acceptable to have unwashable pillows in the bed? If the cover is not removable you cannot wash it unless you are going to throw the whole pillow in the machine, which im sure you do not. So disgusting. Got that unwashed pillow plus one clean which was super thin and lumpy! Neither me nor my boyfriend were happy and we almost left. Never again…

Hotel Laekur is a small and cosy country hotel in a beautiful location in south Iceland. The hotel was built in the year 2012. The hotel is a renovated old barn, but with all the comforts of a modern hotel.
Great hotel near Hella
Reviewed By PhillysocialiteGreat family run hotel right near Hella. Minutes to the Kelder turf houses. Our room looked out to the volcano. Dinner was great there. We then took a walk to see the sheep & horses on their farm. We loved our stay!! Breakfast was delicious too.

Wonderful Location in the Countryside
Reviewed By Aleena LLindartun is an awesome guesthouse! It is clean and tidy and the room was very spacious. The common areas and kitchen are super cute and modern, and there was plenty of space in those too. They even had a shelf of DVDs that you can pick from to bring back to your room and watch. I loved that it was very quiet and situated a bit out of the way in the lovely countryside with great views. Not too far of a drive to the town where there are a few restaurants if you want to pick up some dinner.

Volcano Hotel is a very nice country hotel in the area of Mýrdalur valley, by the southern most tip of Iceland. We have 7 spacious and beautiful rooms at the hotel, the rooms are decorated in Scandinavian style, with hardwood floors and light interiors. All our rooms have a private bathroom with a shower, shampoo, soaps, and a hairdryer. There is a nice lounge/dining room with a bar at Volcano Hotel and dinner is available for our guests, if it is booked in advance - latest the morning of your arrival. We take pride in offering a personal service and know the importance of meeting a local, so do chat with us and ask us about anything in Iceland - we're happy to help. We look forward to welcoming you!

Reviewed By GeorgianaDanyAn excellent hotel in a wonderful location in South Iceland, surrounded by breathtaking natural landscapes. Clean and comfortable rooms, fully equipped. My room had a great view over the Skógafoss waterfall. The breakfast was excellent, the restaurant is open almost all day and you can get a delicious lunch, dinner or a light meal there. In the hallway there are coffee machines, so that you can get a coffee, tea or hot chocolate anytime you want. Since I travelled by bus, it was also an advantage that the bus stop was right in front of the hotel. The hotel has a luggage room, excellent WiFi and the staff are friendly and helpful. I sincerely recommend this hotel.

Quiet Cozy Cottage
Reviewed By Jason WOn our 2nd last night in Iceland we stayed in our first guesthouse. The cottage was cozy and we appointed with everything you would need to use it as a home base near Iceland's most famous attractions. You are centered in between the Black Beaches near Vik and Gullfoss to the north. The hot tub was an added perk after many days of hiking to the many waterfalls. The hosts are very helpful and friendly. Best value in Iceland to date.

Reviewed By Francis_de_VentWe had a great time at Julia's! It was verry cosy, animals all around and every morning a fresh egg with (warm) self bkaed bread. We had our own room with toilet, had tobshare the shower. Drank som beers with Mike (the soon "to be" husband of Julia. Super.
