A lovely island, even with Parisians on a bank holiday!
Reviewed By harry bOur last stay in a modernised, but not spoiled in any way, hotel. Spotless throughout the establishment and the addition of a breakfast cook was very welcome. Cannot fault the hotel for anything, but try to visit the island out of holiday season, it has overwhelming charm with the absence of crowds. Definitely avoid anywhere near a public holiday, full of cars and crowds of Parisians with their own peculiar ideas of how rural France should really be. A great stay for us though, we will be back to the island again and to this hotel too, it is unique in our experience.

Reviewed By Dubtraveller88This is an excellent hotel. It is small, compact but luxurious and never feels “too small”. Two pools - both quiet but one is reserved for adults. That said, I didn’t see one kid in the week we were there. We stayed in an Alizée room which was the smallest they offer but it was bright and airy with a high ceiling. Very comfortable and no issue spending a week in it. The hotel is less than a 5 minute walk from the port of Saint Martin de Ré and has a side gate that opens onto the beautiful back streets of the town. It’s just far enough away from the bustle to be a peaceful escape. Everyone gets an hour in the spa per day and it is amazing. Very relaxing, and limited to 6 guests so very calm. There is no real restaurant in the hotel - and to be fair - they don’t pretend that have one. The breakfast is very good and evening food is simple and tasty. It is, however, quite over priced for its quality. The staff are great, attentive and friendly. We will be back.

Reviewed By N4480UHmargaretgNo hot water when we arrived and no hot water in the morning. A free breakfast is what was given as a token and not really very apologetic. Wouldn‘t recommend. No head board on bed either and for a junior suite I’d have expected more !

The hotel is situated right on the dwarf and we were lucky to have a port view in a new but small bedroom. We stay for two nights and enjoyed a magnificent French breakfast with fresh orange juice café au lait and nice crusty baguettes and croissants. We also enjoyed a fabulous dinner with a specialty seafood platters included Ile de RE oysters, fabulous Langoustine , bulots and nice sized prawns with home made Mayonnaise with a nice Bottle of Muscadet and to cover this gathering a Café gourmand maison certainely one of the must go when in Saint Martin de Re. Having lunch or dinner sur la terrace or inside give you the most impression of the relaxation and the embiance of the place.

All the rooms are different, each more beautiful than the next. They are all very large with high ceilings...everything is tres chic while still being welcoming and warm. Some rooms overlook the gorgeous garden (with a pool) and others have a view of the small harbor so it's a win no matter which room you choose. And as a guest of Le Lanternon, you can get discounts at some local shops. The rooftop (the lanternon) provides the most stunning sunset views of the town and harbor as well. We all can't wait to return.

Don’t fooled by their “fake” photos! We had terribly awful experience here.
Reviewed By sherrykid317Our experience here was terribly awful. First, the room is shabby and there is nothing like 4-star. It smells bad and the bed is uncomfortable. The dish washing machine is broken. Don’t be fooled by their photos on booking.com or their website. And on our last day, they said we didn’t start the dish washing machine before leaving and charged us 65 euros… When we checked in, no one informed us about their “cleaning policy,” and they said it was on the brochure (no one told us it’s necessary to read the brochure as well…). I mean no one should be assumed to read your brochure and check your strict cleaning policy… The location is good and the receptionist is helpful. Except for these, everything is terrible.
