We've eaten here a few times and enjoyed it. It's always lively, they don't take Reservations, so getting a table can be pot luck. Coming early and sitting with a drink works well, but this evening we turned up at around 8.30 and waited for a table. We had one of the high tables by the wall which helped us feel a little detached from the hustle below us. The staff were very efficient, we were going to get an apero from the bar and wait with it on one of the benches overlooking the harbour, but as soon as we'd got the drink a table became available.
We started with quiche for P and rillettes de thon with chevre frais for me. This came in a little Kilner jar. It was tasty, but I couldn't help wondering if I were eating tinned tuna, mashed up with a bit of cheese added. I'm not saying, just wondering. (Disclaimer: I hate Reading that other peoples’ meals were tasty, it can be such a meaningless statement, but seems appropriate for this dish.)
For the main course we decided to push the boat out and have the cote de bouf for 2/3 persons. We've seen other diners eat this in the past and decided to go for it. A massive decadent slab of meat, we ate our fill and there was some left for the dog and the bone, which the waitress kindly wrapped in foil. It was very good, the first taste was a wow, but by the last I felt I'd eaten a lot of meat and had the feeling I'd be sticking mainly to fish for the rest of the holiday.
We like this place, everyone there is so friendly, including the owners who stop for a chat, despite the fact we're tourists and possibly won't be back for a long while, if at all. I like the fact that there are lots of people who are either local or second home owners eating there, they tend to turn up later in the evening. I want to like it more than I do, and I'd like there to be more choice of bottles of wine for under 30€, but having said that, it's one of the better places to eat in St Martin with a view of the port.

The Front Port is a restaurant installed in a bourgeois house. The decoration is a merry mixture between the XVIIIth style and the decoration " recycling(recovery) the Indus ". The location is leading, except the flow with a magnificent view on the port, and a Terrace due south. The Leader, Jerome LAPORTE, favors local fresh products, season, a cooking of the market, in a spirit " Smart Bar ".

The good news is service has definitely improved since last year. More staff on the restaurant floor. The food we thought not quite as good. We both had a marinaded type of fish dish to start. Whilst pleasant both needed more acidity. A few more herbs or something just to bring alive. After 4 days of fish we both had the lamb. It was a slow piece of shoulder which was flavoursome and tender but only a dribble of sauce. Priced at the upper end of local restaurants I expect things to be a step up from quayside establishments and this time it just was a little lacking.

Great place for a lunchtime or early evening drink. Just a shame the staff were so miserable and didn't seem to care if they served anyone or not. This could be a real star of a place, but not with their current attitude.

My husband and I were both very impressed with Les Embruns. The situation was excellent – just a short walk from the hotel we were staying in. The interior was bright and colourful, and the welcome was friendly. The dinner menu had a good selection of dishes – I chose the sea bass, and my husband had a Charolais steak. Both were cooked to perfection, and presented well. We finished up with the chocolate fondant. The meal was accompanied with a very good 2011 Chinon red wine.
The only negative point was that two diners had bought dogs into the restaurant with them, and both were a bit noisy at times. We find this often in restaurants in France.
However, overall we were very pleased with our meal, and would recommend this restaurant to others.

I remembered eating here a couple of years ago and so hubby and I returned last night. We sat in the back garden area which is all covered and has heaters which is great on a cool evening.
Truly the best meal of the last 3 weeks, and we've had a lot! The fois gras is to die for and the duckling so tender served with tiny potatoes and a lovely salad. Hubby had the steak and it was cooked to perfection along with frites and a salad.
Dessert was the profiteroles which were huge and delicious. The service was perfect and wine selection great. If I could give it 10 stars I would. Also nice that it is tucked on a back street away from all the tourist spots. I would suggest a reservation as it is not large and fills quickly. The open kitchen is spotless.

La Coccinelle is located within walking distance from the St Martin de Re harbour. The menu is renewed on a daily basis according to the fresh products from vegetables, fruits, meat or fish available. All the food served is homemade. Starters combined not only fresh tasty mixed salads but also marinated salmon, and wonderful tasty tarts. For main course you have the choice between a mexican fajita or a vegetarian composition, a tasty meaty stew in winter time, grilled lamb chops, cottage pie or you may choose a "koulibiac". La Coccinelle offers a wide range of cheese but please do not miss the crumptious desserts. You cannot possibly leave the place without trying the "Tarte gourmande"with homemade crispy pastry, toffee and beautiful black chocolate cream. You can go for a divine tiramisu, the lemon tart, the chocolate fudge cake or a melting -in-mouth red velvet cupcake. Choice is yours ! Go for it !

We arrived having made a reservation through a third party which had not been received by the restaurant, however with no fuss although fully booked the patron showed us to a lovely table. We enjoyed a superb home made 3 course meal French/European , great atmosphere , superb food , lovely staff

Take one stunning location, on the cliff-tops overlooking the North coast of Ile-de-Re; blend with help-yourself outdoor Seating at pastel-parasoled picnic tables; & add in a warm welcome, & some friendly & efficient service.
Now prepare yourself for the key ingredient: the freshest of fresh produce; we enjoyed delicate oysters; succulent langoustine; & perfect prawns ... all just served with delicious crusty bread, beautifully & simply prepared, & tasting as if they were a still in the sea until minutes ago.
Finally, garnish with a selection of nicely presented local wines; & serve with a level of value for money that's simply outstanding.

What can you find wrong with this lovely place?
Maybe the huge prices? ( At 3 euro for one boule it is frighteningly expensive) but the flavours and colours are sublime.
Go to one of the many restaurants, but skip pudding and then join the throngs of happy people eating ice cream by the harbour.
Honestly it is one of the major memories from our repeat holidays in St Martin, and a reason in itself to visit.

On a perfect day with crisp blue skies in October, we drove out to this auberge right by the sea. Our table was by the breakwater rocks. We were out of season, though this is Toussaints weekend (All Saints is a public holiday) so busier perhaps than usual autumn but much less so than summer.
Once we'd ordered, the food arrived quickly. Plus the carafe of local rosé. Just delicious cooked langoustines and prawns. Then a slice of tart from the local La Flotte tartaniere with coffee to end. Delicious simple food. Get there early, by car, bike or just walk from St Martin.
