However the breakfast was not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. For example, the scrambled egg was merely lukewarm and looked and tasted as though it had been made the day before. The bacon was covered in the white saline precipitation from its cooking; there was almost no honey, the lay-out seemed cramped - in short, the quality of the food, and the overall presentation, conveyed the impression that the hotel attached less importance to its breakfasts than other aspects of the establishment. In my opinion, the breakfast was was not as good as we have experienced in the Mercure Champ de Mars. We will certainly be happy to stay again, by which time it is hoped the breakfast experience will have been raised to the same standard as the rest of the Hotel. t

Reviewed By emachesneyMy husband and I spent two nights at Hotel de Bourgtherould in Rouen. It is the closest Marriott to the Normandy D-day beaches. It was perfect. First we met beautiful Camilla who welcomed us and showed us to our room. The hotel is a restored building that is modernized without losing its original charm. It is steps from everything you'd want to see in Rouen. So many choices for restaurants right outside the hotel. Day two we visited the D-day beaches. When we arrived back at the hotel the valet parking spots were all full. Benoit, who was working at reception, actually got into our car to show my husband the closest parking garage. That is above and beyond customer service! And while they were finding parking, Maxime stayed with me until they returned. So lovely. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. And having a couple of glasses of wine in the bar at the end of the day, listening to a pianist, was so pleasant. And above all, the housekeeping staff keep everything spotless. Congratulations to the manager of this hotel. Your staff make you look great.

Attractive modern hotel in the centre of old Rouen

It is modern and functional, but attractive and very comfortable, and the staff are lovely. You can park (extra cost but worth it) beneath the hotel, but you'll need to call them to access it as it's s bit complicated - you have to enter a code into a post to lower the bollard. Our room was very well set up, attractive and comfortable, with everything we needed. My wife was delighted by the bath and the presence of good mirrors. Breakfast was excellent - lots of choice of fresh produce, fruit, cheeses, meats, eggs, bacon, breaks, pastries, 2 kinds of coffee.

Charming centrally placed hotel
Reviewed By Peter SWe were pleased to come back to this hotel after lockdown to find it has been improved . Our room was very comfortable and the breakfast is simply excellent, with top quality local products. We were diasppointed that the garage was not in use (lift problems) so had to park in the nearby public carpark at the Vieux Marché, but were able to drive up to the door first to drop off our bags. Do ask for the code to access the pedestrian centre before arriving !

Reviewed By philhyde77Very friendly on arrival and the room was very clean. We felt that the area was safe enough to keep cycles on the bike rack overnight as the hotel had cctv. Breakfast was good too, with a decent choice. We could cycle safely in to Rouen and back along cycle paths.

Reviewed By Do VFour-star hotel in a quiet area of Rouen, 10 minutes walk from the cathedral and from the city center. The room was very beautiful and comfortable (coffee machine, fridge, safe). I appreciated the fitness room and sauna. I love the sculptures in the reception.

Avoid in Winter
Reviewed By paullapGood points - clean, comfortable rooms (great pillows!) excellent wifi and friendly charming staff. BUT we had asked for a hotel with secure parking, a restaurant and double bed. This hotel said it had all three. The hotel did have a car park but it had a height restriction of 2m - same as our car so we couldn't use it. Our fault for having a high car but we would not have chosen that hotel had we known. I mentioned this (nicely) in a review and they said it was on the website no it is not, the website says "secure covered parking". We were lucky to grab a parking spot in a dark side road as someone was just leaving. Did not feel comfortable leaving our packed car there but had no choice. The hotel did have a restaurant but only for breakfast. Not mentioned before. Obviously couldn't drive anywhere so the friendly receptionist gave us a map to a local shopping mall 10/15 minutes walk away apparently the only place to eat around there. The roads were dark, mainly deserted and there were a lot of graffiti covered buildings. It didn't feel safe but we had no choice. I am sure in the summer and daylight it will be fine but in the dark winter, not a great experience. The shopping mall had a good selection of fast food outlets. We had one night in France, with all due respect to KFC that's not exactly what we had been hoping for. Our fault but I am guessing others may too have greater expectations of French food. Double room was twin beds. One night, no problem, but just added to the overall unpleasant experience. Did have a great bottle of wine in the hotel bar when we got back!

Reviewed By PC_commentsWe stayed on the way to Calais (about 2 hours to the tunnel) as a convenient stopping place. Plenty of secure underground parking, quick walk to the centre of Rouen and just a few minutes from the main route. Helpful staff, clean room and fairly priced.

Comfortable place to stay
Reviewed By Peter SWe have been here before they renovated and were happy with the new decoration . Friendly service as usual, even included the lady at reception fetching us some fresh milk for our coffee in the room as there was only milk powder. Breakfast was also good, with delicious local cheese as well as smoked salmon. Only minor grump is the coffee, we hate capsule coffee! Please bring back proper coffee. Restaurant next door is fairly priced and offers pressed duck, for those who have skipped lunch to make room for it. (Order in advance) We forgot so were sad to miss it this time but will definitle be back for this gastronomic experience.
