Again, mediocre at best. The signs say it’s “World Famous” but let’s be honest. It’s not.I will say visually it is far more appealing than that of its competition to Castaways.Even though everything is frozen as the staff admitted, the king prawns were tasty. That was a plus.Arriving at 2:30pm, naturally we had spent the morning swimming fishing and whatever else you tend to enjoy on an island. Apparently lunch had ended.True, this place is open until 4:30pm, kitchen closes at 3pm. “We decided to close early today so can’t do any of those options your after”. “I suppose we could turn the fryer back on if you want battered fish + chips” we were told. Kooringal is a bit of a pain in the a** to get to it takes a bit of timeAnd no We didn’t come from the top or Moreton for battered fish + chips. Unfortunately Tangalooma isn’t an option if your not residing in the apartments there, so your gourmet choice is this or another takeaway shop at the other end of the island.Weren’t impressed, a lot of effort and expensive as everything is on Moreton) but I guess that’s the price you pay for being world famous.

Can not rave enough about the buffet breaky, spolied for choice from cereals, toast and juices to bacon, snags, eggs, beans mushrooms, pancakes and much more. The highlight was seeing the fresh honey straight from the honeycombed frame included in the buffet.

This is by far the best restaurant on Moreton Island. They have amazing food, but I wish they would give you a bit more sides to have. They gave us a few carrots and potatoes with our steaks. Otherwise, friendly staff and delicious steaks.

The Gutter Bar

Good atmosphere, prices are to be expected, small range of supplies available if needed. Good music, decorated well. Right near the beach, bring insect repellent. Staff friendly and helpful. No eftpos, cash only, but there is an atm available. Food is average. $76 for 2 doz oysters and they were small and average. Hot chips were $10 or $20 and again were average.
