Le Quai Restaurant FOOD & DRINKS

On the Riviera... (Hyères close to the airport) a restaurant by the sea. It's a particular universe where every details has been thought for the well-being of our visitors. It's an invitation to discover a mixture of sobriety and elegance. A lounge & bar

This restaurant is situated just near the pleasure boat quai. The inside decoration is modern and fresh. Service fast and friendly. We shared a plate of 4 different tapas to start. Tasty and rich! For main dish seafood spit and grilled scampis. All tasty again. Even if the portions were quite big we still had café gourmand. The same good style continued. With local open wine that all was just a bit over 100 euros. Quite reasonable. We had a very good evening!

Just 16 seats and run by we assume husband and wife Japanese couple. The staples of sushi, sashimi and tempura were done with very fresh and tasty fish and home-made sauce (tempura), but the udon noodle soup with pork belly, egg cooked until the yolk was just solidifying, prawn and a delicious home-made broth was excellent. Very good service and not expensive

Slightly disappointed as the previous reviews were so promising. This is a small place on the curb where welcome and service are nice and the menu large enough to satisfy most tastes. Our dishes (large servings) were however not specially tasty, actually rather less than average, and certainly not making a difference with so many other Thai restaurants. Not bad but not worth a detour. We are sorry that you don’t like our foodAnyway we try to do the best Enjoy your holiday

Typical Thai? Not! Very much accommodating the sensible, fine French palate? The degustation plates were sugary, fatty and salty, except for a couple of items. Very little fish sauce, chili, Asian vegetables, ginger or garlic. Tyical fast food fare with bottled sweet chili sauce in a place totally unaccustomed with Thai food.Nice tropical garden was the closest to Thailand we got. Good rose wine, high prices for food. Again disappointed with South-East Asian food in France. How this restaurant can produce 4,5 stars beats me....Unworthy of beautiful Hyères.....

Le Papaya

We visited this restaurant on a wet lunchtime and, having read previous reviews, our expectations were high. The staff were welcoming and the decor, with lots of cleverly displayed driftwood, was pleasing. The unfortunate choice of frenetic rap music as a background to the meal did nothing to enhance our experience. From the limited 'Carte' (no set menu available), we chose a New Delhi salad and an Assiette Asiatique. Each dish was nicely presented and the various Asian specialities were quite tasty, apart from the chicken on a skewer , which was tepid and tasteless. The salad itself was unimaginative and too dependent on a mound of dark green dry leaves. For desert we chose the cafe and tea gourmande both of which contained three small helpings of sweet things: a chocolate cake (very average and rather dry), a lemon custard with a strawberry coulis topping and a well prepared and delicious creme brûlée.The bill for two, including one orangina came to 52 euros, a little on the high side for an unremarkable lunch.
