Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur Bed and Breakfast Inns | Places to Stay in Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur

April 25, 2023 Phylicia Berquist

Provence in southeastern France is divided into six departments and stretches from Orange to Nice. Many consider the Luberon in Vaucluse to be the "real Provence." Gently sloping vineyards and lavender fields are the backdrops that enthralled Cezanne, Van Gogh and Chagall. An excellent train network makes travel between cities easy. To explore villages, drive or catch a bus. Particular highlights include Palace of the Popes at Avignon, the Roman amphitheatre at Arles and the craft center of Les Baux.

The apartment was old and furnishings were ok. We were in number 7. It would not be suitable for 4 people as there is one small bathroom that is accessed via the bedroom. Small tiny kitchen that works for an overnight stay. Nice little garden to the side. Great location. It was good value overall.

Good rest on a walking round trip, not quite as idyllic as we expected from other reviews.

Although the decoration is new, attractive and artful the overall effect is cramped. We were self catering and had expected more for the price (and had had MUCH better for less the previous days), the microwave and pots were in a dirty outside table area, in an unkempt garden. Bed was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was good. The coffee and tea corner were good, although the coffee machine was a bit tricky to use.

Upon entering the gates of the Bastide, we knew we had selected a very special place to stay. The property is gorgeous and peaceful; decorated with art lovingly selected over the years by Brian, the owner and host. The suites are beautiful and peaceful, providing a quiet respite from busy sightseeing days. Brian is an incredibly gracious host. He is also a trained chef and in addition to wonderful options for breakfast each day, he also prepares delicious dinners. We enjoyed them so much, we ate there all 3 nights of our stay. Thank you, Brian, for an unforgettable stay!

Aux Augustins

A stone throw away from the Pope's palace, facing the beautifully renovated Carmes square, you'll find our boutique guesthouse with its architectural elements of origin, built upon the ruins of an Augustinian convent dating from the 13th/14th century. The “Augustinian Bell Tower” right next to our property is another witness of the existence of the Augustinian church, partially dismantled and sold in batches after the French Revolution. Lovers of stones will be seduced by the exceptional character of this recently renovated building. In this hidden, peaceful setting, right in the city center, but away from the touristic hustle and bustle, you can enjoy living like a local, meeting locals. This hotel has an eclectic style with a dash of 5 star hospitality. There is a refreshing pool but the view of the countryside steals the show. You'll awaken to birdsong and enjoy the hum oh honeybees gathering pollen from the wildflowers. Have a glass of wine in the garden and peruse the interesting antiques collections. The staff is warm and friendly and makes you feel at home.

Excellent service, lovely hotel with awesome pool

This hotel is a little gem! I am so glad we were able to stay there in the middle of the French high holiday season. The staff was very welcoming and super helpful all the time. The hotel offers a great continental breakfast with both sweet and savoury options. The inside of the hotel is modern and clean and the rooms were spacious and very comfortable, with car parking on the hotel premises, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. And on top of all that, it has the best pool I've ever been to! With plenty of shade, it is a large clean pool, very well maintained. The hotel is a few minutes drive to the stunning village of Bormes les Mimosas which is one of the most beautiful villages you can visit. I can only wish I could go back again and stay longer. I highly recommend this gorgeous hotel.
