Reviewed By davidgee111Well the only good thing I can say is the coffee wasn't bad. Here is some things that was not disclosed at booking our room that we had to deal with for 4 days. Pool, laundry service, and all the ice machines were out of order. The breakfast had rock hard biscuits. There is just so much more to complain about don't have the time or energy to do anymore.

Reviewed By Janie0717Everything about my room was great. Clean room with modern a/c unit with digital temperature control. I asked for a quiet room, so my room was a king on the front side of the hotel. I had a second floor room, no elevator. But it was ok to take the stairs only staying for two days. The hotel clerk did offer to help me with my luggage, but I am too independent for that! I can't comment on the breakfast as I slept too late! Lots of channels on the TV, good choices. The bathroom was very current. The room was in great condition without any adverse smells, like no air fragrance, etc. I recommend this hotel for a comfortable, clean room. It is on the north side of town. A mile from a grocery store, but on the other side of town from the new development of town. But that made it away from traffic as well.

Reviewed By MFHoosierI was pleasantly surprised at the room as it was clean with some updates, and had the basic amenities. Unfortunately, I found the mattress to be very uncomfortable and the pillows even more so. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We had several issues with trying to get local stations on the TV. Apparently this problem has been going on for several months. Breakfast was hot with several protein choices. We chose this motel because it is dog friendly. Some times in smaller communites traveling with a pet limits the availability of where to stay. Yet I have to say that one could not beat the price. For one night, it was OK.

So Quiet, So Comfortable, and the Bed was Exquisitely Prepared

Someone had taken the time to secure the sheets and blanket with crisply formed and folded corners. When I laid down between the sheets, it was evident that the bottom sheet was not going to be in wrinkles or folds when I woke up the next morning. When we came down for breakfast, I complimented the owner and inquired if the quality of workmanship on our bed was typical throughout the hotel, and was told that indeed, it was. She and the person in charge of room preparation had worked together to create a warm, inviting bed that would appear professionally made, but required minimum hassle for the cleaning staff. I was impressed. After initially viewing the bed, I expected the same high quality of cleanliness in the rest of the room and in the bathroom, and was not disappointed. I promised a review, which I have finally submitted. We stayed in this hotel in November 2017. Somewhere else on this page I was required to choose a date when we stayed, and I picked November 2021 because 2017 was not available. If ever we find ourselves in the Ottumwa, IA area again, we will absolutely be staying in Hotel Ottumwa. We heard no traffic. We heard no footsteps in the hallway outside our door, and the hotel was nearly full when we checked in. I highly recommend that if you are in this part of Iowa, you make your reservation and prepare for a really great night's sleep!
