over crowded over priced

Super expensive. The beach was WAY over crowded. We rented on the Point. All the people on this area share 1 small beach. The regular camp beach had TONS of people. There were police at the public beach 2x An ambulance..... Lots of drama The store was SOOO expensive. We were looking for a peaceful family get away. The weather was nice. The staff was good. Rooms weren't clean. My children hated it there (boy age 10 girl age 8) its just a glorified expensive camp ground

Terrace Pines Campground

Quiet Campground

Reviewed By imbigd13

Once again, whether or not this campground is "for you" depends on what you want to get out of camping. The website touts pickleball, disc golf, 2 small lakes (one with power boat access and one without), among other things. All of that is technically true, but the pickleball course is one small, run down court with a droopy net surrounded by 10' chainlink fence squeezed in to an area next to the check in area. It doubles as the basketball court (hoops with no nets). This may not matter to most, but we had 2 in our party who are busy young men, and sports facilities matter. The ping pong table in the adult lounge area was a pleasant surprise for them, but we never bothered to find the disc golf after the pickleball dissappointment. The campground itself is uber quiet with no light pollution and no traffic noise. It is amazingly remote, which was a pleasant surprise. It is definitely old, and has probably 95% seasonal campers. By my count, only 10 sites are available to rent for the summer, unless some of the waterfront sites on little Dan Hole are available (I did not check). The place was fairly empty when we were there, as at least half of the seasonals were empty and a lot of them appeared to not have been opened this year. A lot of the seasonals have seen better days. The bathrooms were old and not up to par with similar area campgrounds, but functional. All sites are full hookup. The campground layout is challenging. It is a long (? 1 mile) road that snakes around a mountain, with roads (10 or so) branching off in the same direction to the lakes, each having about 10-15 sites arranged in the woods. Hilly, as a description, is a huge understatement. This place is HUGE so it seems like the office is in another town. I occasionally bring my elderly mom camping; she would not have been able to maneuver this place. I would not recommend bikes for young children due to the hills. The 2 lakes/pounds are nice. Deep, clean, and quiet. The kayaking and SUPping were spot on, and there was a resident loon couple with 2 fledgling juveniles. There is a gate to access, and the folks were very nice. It seems secure. Do you want to camp here? It depends, again, on what type of camping you like. Smallish sites where you are in the woods but clearly see the seasonals that surround you, VERY hilly, old but clean bathrooms, full hookups, water access, quiet. I would go back, but it is not in my first rotation.

Bearcamp River Campground

Wonderful

Reviewed By BestBostonBlonde

The bathrooms, showers and campsites are nice and clean. If you stay in 65 you have easy river access. The campsite was freshly raked and tidy. The store has a few items like bug spray, sunblock, ice, wood, etc. I read a few other reviews we’re people complained about the cleanliness but we are happy.

Whit's End Campground

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

Reviewed By 362jocelynm

By far the worst campground I have ever been too. We have been going for two years now and are no longer satisfied with the company of Whitsend Campground. We stayed for a long weekend and were harassed the minute we walked on to the site. The owner is a piece of crap and made our neighbors children cry for being rude and disrecptful. Quiet hours “are at 10pm” but we were getting harassed at 8:00 pm to go to bed and put the fire out. It’s time we put our money elsewhere.

Chefk's notes

I am camped here for the fall mini-season, a really good deal, I think. I'm here to visit some people and do a few things including enjoying the fall foliage this year. For this reason the campground is a good base for me to work from and the reason I'm giving it a very good. They have a lot of amenities and activities for families so if you're looking for a resort campground this is great. If your looking for a quiet camping experience with spacious sites and some privacy this is not it. Campers are packed in like sardines with virtually no space between sites. I would come back here if it were for the same reason I'm here this time, otherwise I would seek out a state park.
