Quay Restaurant

The refurbished interior has a cool retro feel. More inviting than the stark white tableclothes of the past. The layout feels more intimate and more generous. The 10 course menu is a wonderful journey with each course holding its own space. The disappointment was the wine and the knowledge of the staff. The explanation of the set wines to accompany the set menu was - you start with white and move to red. Not what you would expect for $185 per head for the wine selection. The sommelier seemed more interested in being a waiter. Not a reason to not go and enjoy the experience but not what you would expect of Quay.

Palmer & Co.

Tucked down an alley and hidden underground, Palmer & Co. is a time warp to the era of prohibition with its bootleggers, sly-groggers and the like. The 1920s-style clandestine bar serves up an extensive menu of spirits and specially crafted cocktails usin

It's sort fo hidden. If you don't know that it's in a small alley there are chances you will not find it. When we entered the bar, the first thing that hit was music which transports you to another era straight away. The ambiance is fantastic! It's like you have time traveled into the 1920s, the music, the decor, the servers in their unique attire (all had different looks but1920s theme going on), the lighting all serve the purpose of transporting you to the 20's. They have a live singer too. It was jam-packed and there was not a single table or even a spot to stand was available. But we got lucky within 10 minutes and got a spot on a small standing table. The cocktails are great I tried a couple and all were around $20. My favorite was Mercy Me. Whatever food we tried was also good. If you don't get a table then it might be a little troublesome, as me personally I don't like holding my drinks all evening long I need a spot (especially in an over crowded bar). My suggestion is to keep an eye on one of the standing tables and grab it quickly if someone is about to leave. That's what we did.Overall, we have loads of fun. It was a fun night. I would go there again for sure.

Jack & Knife

Hands down the best meal I had in Sydney when I visited last week.I ordered for starters: Kingfish tiradito with chili, sweet potato & citrus. It was fresh and delicious, although it was a little too much lime for me but still lovely. For entrée I had Duck confit with lentils & pumpkin salad. I was concerned of overeating (and wanting to have a dessert), and Head chef Chris made sure that I had the best time by customizing it with a yummy pumpkin salad. The duck itself was tender and full of flavour. Finally for dessert I had Tim Tam “no bake” Cheesecake. It had the appearance of a Tiramisu but taste of a cheesecake. And you can never get it wrong with Tim Tams. This was a sweet end to a brilliant 3 course meal.Hi 653anthonyo, firstly thank you so much for taking the time to review us and we are so pleased you had such a great experience dining with us. We agree that Tim Tams are always a great idea - it's an amazing dessert experience. We hope to see you and your friends back at Jack and Knife very soon!
