TGI Fridays

In Manhattan in 1965, there was no place where people could go out to meet friends and make new ones in an environment that was at once both relaxed and yet exciting. Then, Alan Stillman opened Fridays as a way, he said, "to meet Pan Am stewardesses." Sud

We recently met at the restaurant for lunch and were very disappointed in the hostess, wait staff, and "food." The place was not crowded at all, perhaps, four other tables were filled. By the time I had arrived my friend had already spoke to the hostess regarding a request; following spinal surgery she needed to sit at a booth which had soft seats and she was clearly walking with a cane. The hostess sat a group of four people who came in at the same time we came in, we stood up expecting that she would return quickly to seat us as well. When she did not return for quite some time, we sat down again to wait. When she started walking us to a distant table without a word, we all stopped because we had asked for a booth and it was too far for my friend to walk. We verbally requested again a booth. The hostess walked away saying nothing and disappeared yet again to the kitchen. We sat again to wait patiently. Eventually, the uncommunicative hostess came back, grabbed menus and placed them at a booth without a word. Accustomed to the "typical" seating procedure we sat where "indicated." The menu selection is very nice until you try to order...the wait staff seemed to be unavailable to take our order. When the waiter finally appeared we gave him our drink order and appetizer order because we figured it may be the second to last time we saw service. Wisely, we ordered the entrees when the appetizers came much later. The appetizers were very dry and without taste. We added the sauces that came with the appetizers to make them more palatable, however, the various sauces were watered down and tasteless as well. At one point, one of my friends asked to have some of the ice taken out of her drink. The waiter appeared to not understand the request and when we explained again he seemed "put out" to have to take out some of the ice. The drink came back with just as much cubed ice this time so my friend ended up taking out the ice herself. The entrees were so overcooked, dry and tasteless they were practically inedible. We were looking for the waiter for water but...you know...The check came but again, we had to wait quite some time before it was taken to have the credit card run and then again to have the waiter come back with it. We got out of there as quickly as possible and will never return.

Heeding recommendations of friends, we tried this local spot for lunch. Large bar surrounded by tables. The lunch menu was interesting. Meals off the lunch menu included a cup of soup, coffee and a scoop of frozen yogurt. Portions were way above normal size! Tried the pulled pork sandwich with Manhattan clam chowder. Above average. Nice selection of beers on tap. Prices were reasonable. Our group of seven posed no problems to our server who was personable and helpful.

My wife and I have now eaten here several times. The room is certainly stylish, and the menu eclectic, but the food needs some work. We tarted with an IPA, and it was not to my taste. Not hoppy enough. We also started with a mezzo plate with hummus, smoked eggplant dip, pickled vegetables, olives and flatbread. The components were fine, but the presentation was stylish but very awkward to eat. The olives and pickled vegetables were piled on top of the two dips so that you had to push them out of the way to get at the dips. Pushing them off of the hummus pushed them onto the eggplant dip and vice verse. Very awkward. I had the tempura vegetables. The coating on the vegetables was thin and not adhered to the vegetables so it fell off when you went to eat the. The Yakatori (?) sauce accompanying them was very thin and did not have much flavor. My wife had the mussels and frites and declared them “fine”. Nuff said, she loves mussels.

Everything about the look of the Dublin House makes me want to be there. The space is really cool. Old pub vibe, but the food is just average. Someone needs to take over the menu and add some creativity and freshness. The food is not terrible, but it doesn't blow me away. I wish it did and I would go there more.

Stopped in for lunch. Outside was crowded so sat in the back dining area.... my waiter was very matter of fact. Not friendly , felt like he just wanted to get us in and out. I had the chicken Caesar which was tasty, my child had margarita pizza. Tasted frozen like Elio’s. Was bombarded by flies the entire meal. Waiter never stopped by to check or offer refill - paid and left. There are far better restaurants in red bank - this one was a one and done for me

We've eaten at this location MANY times since it first opened. We have been fans of this chain overall and this location in particular. Service here has been always good to great. And for a chain restaurant it's been hard to beat. But recent menu changes have left us disappointed. They stated they changed the menu to focus on what they do best and offer more meat. What they did was remove a lot of good items and shrink the menu choices. My favorite steak option? Gone. All the varied Tex mex dishes they added during the last big menu revamp a few years back? Most gone with only a couple remaining. My guess is it was done to streamline the menu and to cut costs. But whatever the reason it's not a good one. If you want to focus on making certain items better then I'm all for it. But don't throw out the other good options at the same time. This is happening a lot in the chain restaurant industry. It hadn't affected Chilis but now it has. This review is more about the chain overall than this location. The people and atmosphere here are still great and the food was good. But it was not what we wanted or expected on our recent visit. As I mentioned we have visited this location a lot and Chilis in general for years. We now have to rethink that going forward.

I have not dined a this restaurant years, and I was in the area. I ordered my salad without onions, and it was brought to the table, and it took quite awhile for the waitress to realize the mistake. The service in general was slow. The steak was grilled to the right temperature, the crab cakes were just average, and the Manhattan Clam Chowder did not have many clams.
