Went a first time, wanted fresh fish, completely trusted the owner (Marcos) and we had a good 'gallineta' nicely prepared a la plancha. When we asked for the bill, he just told us a number. It seemed reasonable if not cheap, we paid and we went out happy. We went a second time. Unrequested tapas started appearing on our table. We asked for fresh fish and a giant grilled squid was served. No preparation or cleaning of any sort had taken place, it has just been thrown on the plancha as it was, eyes, skin, 'beak', innards and all (what a contrast with the nice stuffed squid of the previous evening at the nearby Cafeteria del Cabo). Some (not many) might like it that way, but it was not cooked well and it was hard. As it weighed a kilo (so we were told...no scales in sight of course) it was too much and by the end it was cold rubber. When we asked for the bill it became clear that dear Marcos intended to use us as cash cows. Not a very smart business practice as we'll never go back.

I've been around Carboneras a lot this month and I've eaten 3 times in La Frontera. The tapas and raciones are tasty and huge. I love the grilled tuna and the smoked tuna. They have homemade desserts that I strongly recommend (specially the Arroz con Leche- Rice pudding). The price is the best part of it, as it is quite cheap and the service is great and they also give you, on the house, liquors (limoncello, coffee liquor...) when you ask for the bill.

Quality fresh fish and seafood. Relaxed dining. Great location overlooking beach at Carboneras. Efficient service. The prawns were wonderful. Almejas too. Grilled calamari cooked to perfection and charred in right places to add to the flavour ! Great terrace for people watching.

After so many days of tapas, we wanted to try a normal restaurant. In winter the options around Carboneras are very limited, so we ended up at La Quesería.Location is not very good, as it's not in the main restaurant area. But the restaurant is very good, all the food was very good and the price was correct. Good for a change!

Attractive premises both inside and on covered terrace. Warm welcome but mixed service. Food offering majors on fish and meats cooked over wood as the name suggests. However i could not detect any garlic or chilli used in cooking process ? Good selection of different meats and fish. Being Spain- the pork was very good but not exceptional and served with one cherry tomato and a tiny padron pepper and a pre prepared baked potato served so cold that the creme cheese dressing did not melt ! I suspect potatoe had been microwaved earlier as there was no flavour or texture from oven roasting or baking. The robero del duero wine was exceptional. An amuse bouche was served which was a nice touch. Pineapple carpaccio was refreshing but the promised cardamon and chilli disappointing and needing more 'oooomph' ! The cheescake was not available and the waiter offering sliced orange with ice cream as an alternative, rather bizzare !Small pot of free baileys and limonchello delivered to table woth bill was a nice gesture. Firday night and restaurant was quite busy. Quite a mixed experience and on balance only an average rating for this meal. Dear customer,We are greatful for your comment, although we are sorry for your experience was not tottally good in all senses. We take note of all your opinions in order to improve. Ajo y guindilla is the name of the restaurant, there are many dishes cooked with galric, however it is not the same story with chilli, so not everyone likes it.Our ibirian pig is brought directly from the best pastures of Extremadura, because it is mandatory in our philosophy to work just with high quality products.as for the accompaniment we feel that this happened to him, he just had to have commented on it and we would have changed it, but the potatoe is with alioli (Spanish garlic sauce) not cheese sauce. The pineapple carpaccio, it does not carry chili, it carries ginger and cardamom, and the alternative to cheese cake was a cheese ice cream with orange sponge cake, maybe we do not explain ourselves well, we are sorry. We feel again that the experience was not entirely pleasant, but we are curious to know why your review has changed, last night you at approximately 23:30 put a review of 5 Star in which everything had been great, and I was ready to reply when I have seen that your opinion has totally changed, my email is [email protected] and the phone +34 663 251 114I'm at your disposal

Tried to go Sunday night, closed, the sign said closed Sunday night all day Monday, open Tuesday lunchtime, so we are only here 3 nights, go Tuesday lunchtime, new sign outside saying new hours only open Wednesdays to Sunday. We tried to book a table on telephone and email, for Tuesday lunch but nothing. The food must be alright because of the decent reviews, although the customer care is non existent. We are returning to this area in about 8 months I would love to sample some of the dishes advertised, if your open.

Was looking forward to new Mexican restaurant on playa but reality was so disappointing. Very small portions, some overcooked, others undercooked, much more expensive than Don Pancho next door was vastly inferior food and rushed service. All style over substance, felt rushed, too pretentious and way overpriced. Canella means ‘scoundrel’, enough said !! Will not return

Popped in for lunch and enjoyed fresh sardines, lovely white Rioja overlooking the sea. Service was friendly and welcoming view was superb, wine was top notch and the fish was fresh and tasty. The only down side was the number of flies buzzing around and landing on the food which did get annoying after a while. Food drink and view 5/5.
