Viana has plenty of fish restaurants - the problem is deciding on which one. Valentim is at the more about fish than the glamour end but nevertheless perfectly fine inside with a terrace at the back for warm lunchtimes. The menu is short but they have more depending on the catch - when we visited fine Turbot was on offer. Amazing fish soup to start then Dover Sole which had the meaty texture missing with Lemon Sole although not a huge fish. Service is fine and supervised by a redoubtable lady; wine by the glass is both excellent, cheap and generous. Recommended.

There are two parts of the restaurant, one for everyday lunch and the other with white tablecloths a bit quieter. The prices are the same and the quality of the meal excellent. Fresh and perfectly grilled fish with delicious green sauce. I ordered potatoes and salad with it and got a whole big plate of mixed salad. Including the wine it was less than 10 euros! Just go there and enjoy.tank you for your opinion. I hope to see you again.

Should be twinned with Carat's cafe, Southwick UK as it's at the end of an unassuming dock road. Overlooks a beach with good views to the south. A large menu, prompt service and friendly service. Average to good food in large portions. The fish skewers are an impressive sight.

We had dinner last 2 nights ago with my husband's relatives. It was quiet far from Vila Nova de Cerviera. But since, it was recommended from a friend, we drove to eat there. The food was really great. The servings are as well big. The price is okay and you will not regret.

Just the most terrible experience we made with Portugese restaurants. Service horribly slow and unprofessional, but at the end a little betterI apologize for the delay. I liked to make reference that before your request had four more. This is a traditional food house and the dishes require time to be made. The rooster fish is a fish that takes a little longer time to be prepared.I guess I figured that out. It was not necessary to use your right hand as a pistol on this platform. That day I served many people who were satisfied, but not writed here, only you.i Wish you a good vacation.

This mainly fish restaurant was recommended by our hotel and one of our guide books, and we enjoyed both meals here. Friendly waiting staff - on our first night they only had one bottle of the white wine we wanted but got more in time for our second visit. Good choice of fish dishes, done in various sized portions to suit different appetites. The desserts looked brought in so we didn’t bother.

The service was efficient and friendly, the portions enormous and the food delicious. The waitress showed us the fish before it was cooked and it looked very fresh. We went early, and as we left il became crowded and very loud. But I must say it was a very happy, friendly way of being loud and we appreciated the atmosphere.

Tasquinha da Linda

In an old warehouse of the tidal dock of Viana do Castelo, they send fresh fish and seafood. More than a restaurant, Tasquinha da Linda is a place of petisqueira vocation.

This place is, by Portuguese standards, expensive. The decor is nice and refined, service is excellent —although they let you serve your own wine, which you shouldn’t have to do. The fish soup was admirable, one of the absolute best I’ve ever had —and I’ve had quite a few. The main course, a typical “cataplano” dish (fish and seafood slowly stewed), was less convincing as the fish came out overcooked. The ice cream at the end was OK but nothing to write home about, and they gave me hazelnut instead of chocolate! The wine list is long and plentiful, and the red Douro wine we picked was excellent.
