Faro is the best-known city in Portugal’s deservedly famous Algarve region. There’s an archaeological museum and a “Bishops’ Palace,” a Renaissance cathedral that was heavily bombed during World War II, but later rebuilt. Nearby in Estoi are Roman ruins, and Albufeira, also nearby, is a formerly quaint fishing village influenced by the Moors in the 8th century. It’s situated in a cliffside location, and has become famous for its beaches (there are 20) and nightlife.

We stumbled upon this as we ventured off the beaten track, heading down cobbled streets and under fancy arches. After acknowledging how 'quaint' and 'local' it looked we thought we'd head down later for tea.Luckily, around 7:30pm we managed to get a seat just before a flurry of couples were turned away. Inside there's only 3 tables and outside about 4. It seems like its run by a small family and they're happy to make you feel welcome, singing along to Portuguese music, with the gentleman eager to crack a few jokes with his sense of humour. The food itself was amazing. A nice basket of bread, olives and cheese for starters followed by a cod, shrimp and clam cataplana (which does take 40 minutes to make, so get that bottle of wine in) All fresh and cooked from scratch. Amazing. We ended up having a dessert which was home made too.Price wise - cataplana for 2, starter, 3 glasses of wine and 2 desserts came to 51 euros. If you're looking for a genuine Portuguese experience then look no further,

We went there after several recommendations by locals in Faro, who defined it the best place where to eat fish (and especially Cataplana) in Faro. The expectations were met, if not exceeded, and the food was brilliant. Also the portions were very satisfactory. Definitely one of the top places in Faro.

We were a little apprehensive at first as it is a very busy place and a little overwhelming to go up to the counter and choose from the huge selection of fish and meat available but once we got settled everything was perfect. We received delicious fresh bread and huge tomato salad to start. We had the mixed shellfish which consisted of clams, baby clams and razor clams cooked in a garlic and cilantro sauce, along with a portion of oysters and a mixed meat platter served with a massive portion of homemade chips. Alongside this we got a litre of white wine for 4€ (which was surprisingly tasty considering the price!). This is a family run business and the service was fantastic with the young waiter and the 'sister of the boss' constantly checking we were happy and satisfied. It was all so good that the next night after failing to find a restaurant that appealed to us we ended up returning here and ordering the same food! Honestly cannot say anything bad about this place and I wish it was in my hometown. The whole bill with bread, salad, two main courses and a side plus wine cost just 28€. We were absolutely shocked and sure they'd made a mistake on the bill but they assured us it was correct. Fantastic!!

Popular local restaurant overlooking the beach. You are advised to book.Offers a limited menu of mainly fish. The service is friendly and quick and the food very good quality. It is quite difficult to find as it is hidden behind a very basic snack bar.Although the interior of the restaurant appears smarter than others in the area the price is very reasonable

A friend and I came for dinner one night. Since it was pretty early (about 20:00), we were able to get a table without a reservation. It was very beautiful outside, so we decided to sit in their outside seating area. To start, we ordered some of their bread/truffle butter and cheese. The entree that I ordered (pumpkin raviolis) was good, but after a bit, it started to feel a little bit too creamy and heavy. Honestly, what stole the show was the truffle butter and bread—after the first bite, I wanted to just eat the whole thing. It adds a nice salty, but rich taste to the butter, and coupled with the bread, it was definitely the highlight of the meal. In all, it was a nice night. The view was spectacular, the raviolis were quiete good, and the truffle butter was unforgettable.

Reading the good reviews on these pages, we decided to dine here and although we arrived quite late (9.30 - it shuts at 10.00) we were welcomed in. Good seafood and fish menu. we decided to start with a salad. Halfway through we discovered a large black foreign body. We complained, the half-eaten salad was removed and met with a not even a half-hearted apology. Instead, the owner just kept telling us how good the fish we had ordered was. Due to the lack of alternative we stayed and ate the fish (which was good), but still left with the bitter taste of poor service. No attempt to make amends (beyond not charging us for the salad), just a shrug of the shoulders.

Mains of steak (cooked to perfection), pork/clams & tuna salad - all presented well & again tasted fresh & amazing. Finished with great coffee & a lovely complimentary almond liquor - we will definitely be back for more!

The restaurant looks like a new one, the waitresses are nice and polite but they speak nothing but portugues. The food is very good but the portions are pretty small. Be careful regarding the starters (bread, olives, butter and several sauces) because they will bring to you without even asking and they will charge it. The service is pretty slow and even if you reserve a table you will get the food pretty later. Furthermore in 2019 I can't accept that it's not possible to pay by cards and the nearest atm is pretty far away by walk from the restaurant. In conclusion the food is very good but the price is high compared to the quality. I give 4 stars but they should deserve less.
