Any summer day in Calgary when the sun is out you want to be on a patio. Joey Barlow has a great patio set-up that wraps across the south (and west) of the building maximizing the sun. Visited around 2:30 on a Thursday with a friend when it was not too busy. We seated by a hostess who gave us menus and said that our server would be with us shortly to take our drink order. 20 minutes past and no one came to take our order, despite a couple of servers that didn't look too busy, standing at the bar socializing. 3 different servers walked by our table and we asked if we could place a drink order. One said she would be right back, the other said she would find our server and the other apologized that no one had come to our table yet and said someone would be with us soon- the place was not at all busy and some of the servers were still just hanging out beside the bar, no attention to any of the tables. Another 10 minutes went by before anyone came to our table and asked if we would like to place an order, just as we were getting up to leave out of frustration. With so many good places on 8th ave, it is shocking that this type of service is tolerated by the management at Local. I'm sure the food is decent but after this experience we had our drink and left, probably won't return. Hello there,First off Iâd like to apologize for your experience at Local 8th ave. This little gem, is an exceptional local restaurant that always pleases. Great food, and staff. Prices are reasonable, and they do have daily specials if you want to watch your dollars. It has never disappointed me to date.

Such a great place for good beer. Bartender - I wish I remembered his name... Shorter brunette man with tattoos on right forearm... seriously the best bartender I've encountered in a while. So friendly, informative and all around cool guy to chat to. We'd come back just because of him!

We went here with friends while on holiday, it was late, out hotel bar was closed and we wanted a drink not much else open. this place was open much later, good service/server, reasonable drink prices and we had a snack too which was very good and reasonable price also.Good atmosphere, all age groups.

This was our first visit but definitely wonât be our last. The service was great and food came fast. The menu offers tons of gluten free options and they even have a dedicated gluten free fryer. I had cactus chips with dill dip and fish & chips. Very good. Highly recommend.
