My family & I ate here this evening, & we all enjoyed our dinner. We sat outside, the service was a little slow, but the staff was friendly & apologetic for being slow. We will return again.

Don't judge a book by it's cover, por favor. This place is delicious! Tucked away in a South Charlotte shopping center, these ladies know how to pack a punch in your lunch! A small quaint restaurant that offers tres specials per day at a shockingly low price. The friendly employees offer their suggestion if you're struggling to pick a numero. After going with the chicken breast special, they first brought out a mouth watering bowl of soup followed up quickly by the main dish. Sooo much food it's crazy! I managed to clear my plate and boy was it tasty, especially with their choices of spicy sauces. They are also a bakery with homemade baked specialties ... can't wait to try that delectables as well.We will definitely be back to check the other daily especiales!

We had one of the daily specials. Lentil soup along with the chicken and mushrooms. My husband does not even eat lentils but enjoyed the soup. I added some of their green sauce to my soup to make it spicier. The chicken was very tender. Definitely try the empanadas. They were tasty in a cornmeal crustService was very good. Server checked if food was okay, refilled tea glasses without needing to be asked. We ate inside but there are several outside tables as well.

The best food of the world for two years consecutive s now in Pineville NC PERUVIAN CUISINE AND BAR

Reviewed By CarolinaGypsy

It appears this restaurant does not want English speaking customers! My husband and I decided to try Machu Picchu based on TA reviews for dinner after a shopping trip to Pineville. We arrived around 6:30. The dining area is large. There were only two tables of customers. The waitress seats us right next to the two tables of customers. Meaning all of us are in a small cluster instead of being spread out. This was not a problem for us, it just seemed strange considering all of the empty tables scattered across the dining room. The waitress brought our menus and asked in Spanish if we spoke Spanish. We told her we did not. The other customers were all speaking Spanish. At that point, I expected her to get a waitress that spoke English. But, she returned with her order pad. We were looking over the extensive menu. We asked a question, but she did not understand and pointed to pictures on the menu. She left and return two times with her order pad without being able to answer any questions. We finally decided to order. We had to point to the items we wanted. My husband asked about dressings for the salad. She did not understand and pointed to the picture of the salad. When the salad came, she said something in Spanish that we didn’t understand. She then left and brought back two packages of Ken’s dressing for him to choose from. The salad was fresh with a generous portion of avocado. I had a small bowl of Chicken Soup with Kion (Ginger) that was very good! We shared an entree TACU TACU CON MARISCOS EN SALSA A LO MACHO. The flavor of the rice was good and the sauce on the mixed seafood was tasty. However, this was not the best meal we have had at a Peruvian restaurant. I was a little disappointed in the entree. Our water glasses were completely empty. Considering we were the only table she was waiting on - yes, there were two other people waiting on the two tables of customers - it seemed she could have noticed we needed refills. We had to get her attention for refills. She never checked on us to ask about the food or more refills. When we were almost finished, she came by making a motion like writing to ask if we were ready for the check. I guess she was doing the best she could with the language barrier. She seemed to be frustrated that we didn’t speak Spanish. We enjoy eating at various ethnic restaurants where English is not the primary language of the people working there. We have NEVER had an experience like this at any restaurant in the U.S. The entire experience was a disappointment. Perhaps we would have chosen a different entree if someone had been able to explain the extensive menu. In addition, we didn't feel welcomed at Machu Picchu. It felt like we were a nuisance! We will not return to this restaurant.

Twenty-two people from our community went to this restaurant for dinner. All I heard was how great the meals were. One said the steak was the best he's ever eaten. Another raved about the paella. Another about the fantastic grouper. I had tile fish, which I had never heard of before, and it was superb. Service was wonderful and quick and we weren't rushed out although there were people waiting to be seated.
