President James K. Polk State Historic Site

This site is located on land once owned by the parents of James K. Polk, the 11th U.S. president. The state historic site commemorates significant events in the Polk administration: the Mexican-American War, settlement of the Oregon boundary dispute, and the annexation of California. Reconstructions of typical homestead buildings—a log house, separate kitchen, and barn—are authentically furnished. The visitor center features a film on Polk's life and exhibits on his family and tumultuous presidency.

This was an extremely enjoyable evening featuring good talent, good food, and very friendly people. My experience certainly was not what some of the negative reviewers had to say.

Yes, this is run by a Christian organization. They make no secret about that, for it is plainly stated on their website. So if you are surprised by the "religious" tilt to the show, you can only blame yourself. But hey, this is not a bad thing.

Contrary to what was reported, there was no asking for "donations", no proselytizing.Just good old fashioned wholesome fun.

The food was actually better than most "Dinner Theater" fare. The word delicious comes to mind, and the service, provided by the cast of the show, was among the most polite and effective Iv'e ever seen.

I am so glad I found this place. They offer about four or five different shows throughout the year, and I plan on going to each and every one of them.

Anne Springs Close Greenway

Nestled amid beautiful lakes and hardwood forests, the Anne Springs Close Greenway is a natural preserve more than twice the size of Central Park, minutes south of Charlotte in Fort Mill, SC. Its 2,100 acres serve as a natural buffer from urban development and provide a wide open space for countless activities – from hiking, biking and horseback riding to picnics, kayaking and more. The land has ties to the Catawba Indians and the Civil War and has been permanently preserved for public use. The Greenway contains native plants and animals, historic buildings, a 40 mile network of trails, a recreation center and facilities for weddings and other special events. As a non-profit organization, it depends on memberships, program fees as well as private donations to support annual operations. Main entrances include Lake Haigler, Dairy Barn, Adventure Road and the Recreation Complex, all of which provide additional information and trail maps.

We enjoyed a pleasant morning walk around Lake Haigler and part of the Wagon Trail. While it was $5 for each of us, we felt it was worth it to experience the outdoors here. It was a weekday, so we had the place pretty much to ourselves. There are clean unisex bathrooms and plenty of parking. The trails are well-maintained and the scenery is great.

Great addition to this sleepy stretch of Pineville. I had a business meeting nearby and we all (8 of us) stopped by for a some brews after 5. Very impressed - nice owners and a great selection of beer, both on tap and in the bottle.
I did see some wine bottles in the cooler, but I did not see any wine on the menu. Also, no food, but they do have food trucks that show up many times throughout the week.

I recently brought my 6 and 8 year old children here one day when they were out of school and they had a blast. There are numerous options available for children from jumping in a foam pit to bouncing on trampolines the size of a football field. This place seemed quite clean as well. The 'arcade' section would likely benefit from some more options but that isn't the real purpose of coming here (as that would be the trampoline jumping).

Definitely worth visiting with kids for at least an hour if around in the area.
