Matsu

Delicious sushi served in what one might consider to be an unexpected surprise. Located in a small strip mall on Rt 32 in Rosendale, the exterior gives no indication of the level of fresh sushi served here. I would have given this place a higher rating, but for the physicality. The interior is fine enough, but could be improved to match the quality of what is served. Service was fine...food excellent. Strongly suggest heading over for delicious meals in a casual environment.

Soy

Reviewed By DrSGPrice

The dining room is invitingly interesting like a Brooklyn neighborhood gem. Outside dining is roomy and welcome. The limited menu, including chalkboard specials, is lovingly curated. Don't expect the heavy western flavors that Asian food is subjected to in the USA. (For those needing that kick there are a variety of sauces on the table.) (This reminds me of the gentle preparation of food I encountered in Hong Kong.) My cousin and I enjoyed the Monk's Bowl. Fresh, local strawberries for dessert were a sweet treat. Soy offers a good variety of sake, beer and wine, although I had green tea. Service is friendly and helpful, sensitive to vegan needs and there is a no tipping policy. Soy was reviewed favorably during the years it was in Manhattan. The big city's loss is the mid-Hudson Valley's gain! We look forward to returning.

Momiji Sushi & Grill

Momiji is a very good sushi restaurant. I've had numerous rolls here (the Buddha is my favorite) and the food has always been fresh and tasty. The vegetable noodle bowls are very satisfying and the portion is just right for me. The decor is average and the service is very fast and friendly. For better Japanese you'll have to drive an hour.

I had the Nabeyaki soup with Udon noodles. It was very good. Much too much food for one person, but made for great leftovers. The atmosphere is very traditional, and perfect for enjoying the food. I hope to get a chance to return and try the sushi.

Kyoto Sushi

Stopped at old favorite Kyoto for dinner. Good miso soup, seaweed salad, and deep fried tofu. It was freezing out so I passed on the sushi and had the salmon teriyaki dinner. Very good and hearty. Friendly staff and good service. Great sushi but will wait till weather warms up.
