When my family and I first started coming to Cognac about 10 years ago, there was little choice of good eating places and on occasion there were none. On this last visit I am most impressed by the number and quality of good eating places. This is just one of the dozen or so such places doing a great trade. The place was positively buzzing (and noisy) at lunchtime but we were fitted in very efficiently and without fuss. Our waitress spoke excellent idiomatic English (without the aid of SIRI) and was most courteous and helpful. We all had the salmon darnes all cooked to perfection and washed down with some local white wine. And it did not cost the earthâ¦â¦Weâll be heading back there again before we leaveâ¦â¦In the meantime my curiosity got the better of me and I just had to look up the origin of the name which came from a French military leader Bertrand Du Guesclin who drove the English from France. Now you know!!!!

Great place to people watch and enjoy a fabulous view of the river.The Italian themed interior is wacky but fun.Food was sensational, as was the wine.Friendly service.
