Reviews on Indian food in Eumundi, Queensland, Australia including Fna - Dawat, Deepak Indian Restaurant, Taj Dhaba Indian Cuisine
Things to do in Eumundi
The small Queensland town of Eumundi now boasts a new Indian restaurant, FNA - DAWAT. Situated in the main street of Memorial Drive, it's a worthy addition to the town's other eating establishments. My wife and I were passing through from Victoria, and chose to eat there on a Friday night in April. And we are pleased that we did. My wife chose the vegetarian dish of Dahl, while my choice was Prawn Malabari, a coconut cream curry with shelled prawns, capsicum and tomatoes. With the addition of raita, naan and rice we were very well satisfied. I have eaten a lot of Indian food, in both India and Australia, and the south Indian cuisine of this restaurant was of a commendable standard. And the price was very reasonable. The name of our waitress was Bitty, who was very pleasant and attentive. We noticed that the restaurant also has a take-away service. My only suggestion is that some more prominent advertising signs be erected on the footpath outside the restaurant, to guide diners to it.

Love Indian but this doesn't compare with quality in major cities. But it's the only option locally so just accept it as a compromise. The sauces are too similar, sometimes too watery and the rice is always too watery. One of the best features is the peshwari nan bread, filling but yummy.

I've been coming to the Taj for 6 years. Probably eaten there 20+ times. Originally an offshoot of the highly-regarded parent restaurant in Burnside, Nambour, the Taj served excellent food. But just recently everything has changed. The original owner is no-where to be seen. The kitchen is now staffed by Chinese and Koreans instead of Indians, and the food is truly horrible - watery, tasteless, mostly gravy with ittle meat, far too sweet. The worst Indian food I've tasted in Australia. So go to Burnside, or Cooroy - the latter especially good food, but hard to get a table.
