Ate here a few days ago for the first time. Despite having eaten in Parthenay many times before, this was my first visit. Not cheap at â¬86 for two of us but we did have aperitiffs, starters and mains and a bottle of the most expensive white wine on the menu - a delightful Petit Chablis. The food really was very good. I had foie gras de canard which I followed with duck breast cooked exactly as ordered. I can't remember my wife's starter but she had the biggest gambas I've ever seen to follow and really enjoyed both! Super service and from my seat I could see into the spotless kitchen area where the chef was continually cleaning up when not cooking. We will return soon, I hope!

Cuisine soignée, inventive. cadre agréable. Menu varié. Je conseille vivement le mille feuilles de bÅuf, un vrai bonheur. Peut être un petit peu cher.

Ate there on our first night in Parthenay. I had galette (savoury crepe) which was nice. Hubby has there special potato dish (I would describe it as a deconstructed baked potato with filling outside! ). To be fair, filling was delicious and it was a huge platter.....but at â¬15.....bit steep....house wine was also pricey compared to other restaurants. Nice but too pricey.

Group of us chanced visit to Parthenay and discovered this restaurant with convenient parking opposite. What lucky find !! Friendly greeting and table for seven of us quickly found, menu and wine list presented, which after usual deliberations all found something interesting to try. Plus very good wine list produced really good wines to accompany the food. Possibly the best fun and great food made this meal to remember, would definitely recommend making the effort to find this restaurant when in the area. Best meal I have had in recent time. Do give it a try.

Nice cafe style with more seating upstairs. The menu was very short (not a criticism) and we opted for the home made burger and sautéed potatoes. The burger tasted really nice, the potatoes were plentiful for a lunchtime meal. The quiche looked like a good option also. We shared the two desserts of panacotta and a pear crumble. This was a very well attended venue with "ladies who lunch" and plenty of hipsters in attendance. I would say that you would not be out of place if you had children with you as well though. We paid â¬12 each which included a soft or hot drink. Alcohol available at an additional cost. The staff will try to help in English if you struggle with French. You will realise the significance of the name when you see the cartoons on the wall.

I called in for lunch on the Saturday due to there being almost nowhere else open. The seating is very close together but a nice atmosphere. We both ordered omelettes but disappointed to find the only accompaniment was a few leaves of lettuce. This was basic but still enjoyable.

Fabulous food at the Citadelle. Whilst I don;t think they should have to have great English, it turns out that they do..in fact Callum is a native speaker and a nice guy to boot, but by no means the only bilingual member of staff. Good ambience. Never had a duff meal here...and the tartare is fantastic.

I wrote this on the wrong restaurants page...sorry...it was meant for L'enoteka!Excellent meal here..we just chose the restaurant from the street because it had people in and some atmosphere.. not the biggest steak ever, but beautifully cooked and waiter very charming. Good space and welcoming/comfy decor. Nice.

Visited on a Sunday evening with friends and were able to sit out on the pleasant rear terrace. Tables well-spaced and smart, comfortable seats. (Unfortunately a close neighbour was doing a lot of shouting). The fixed price menu was fine (see website) and we had a selection from each. All good, though I chose the veal and although this was quite large, it was also quite dry with a very small Neapolitan sauce.Reasonable wine choice. Service from just the one young lady was very good and we had the impression that the whole team was very small. We had reserved but really needn't have.

Just back from a wonderful lunch at Aut Fouee. We've been meaning to go for ages, but on a weekend you really do need to book in advance. This medieval restaurant comes with the patron and serveuse in costume, wood oven going full tilt and hot breads in endless supply throughout a 5 course meal, with apero, wine and coffee for under 25 Euro. Over 2 hours it was a really brilliant meal in a fab environment - even the wash hand basin in the loo with the 'magique' door is something to behold. Maybe not a meal for a vegetarian to truly savour, but for us meat eaters....tres gourmand!
